Cape Flattery - (August 9) Our next stop was in Clallam Bay at Sam’s RV Park. It is a Passport park, so the camping fee is one-half price. We booked two nights, thinking it would take us another day to see the area. The primary objective was to go up to Cape Flattery, which is the furthest northwest point in the lower 48 states. We have been to the furthest NE point in Maine and the furthest SW point in Key West. So this was another “bucket list” place to see. We took off in the car for the twenty something mile drive to Cape Flattery....

Moved on to Clallam Bay, only a 64 mile trip, but we took a very interesting country route out of Port Angeles, Rt 112. It was full of twists and turns and up and down a small mountain, at parts the road rounded and came back on itself, 10 -15 mph was max we could go. And a nice 9% grade down with twists and turns. Very scenic and actually not much traffic. After getting checked in, we drove to the furthest NW point in the contiguous United States-Cape Flattery. At the end of the 3/4 of a mile hike over a picturesque trail with bridges...
