Our trip today to Mt. Saint Helens was one of the most interesting and informative that we have taken. It is truly an amazing and awe inspiring story. Mt. Saint Helens erupted on May 18, 1980 after literally years of monitoring the seismic activity. We watched a couple of films that described and showed the impact of the eruption. There were 57 deaths as a result of the devastation in the aftermath. Some of the deaths were reporters, geologists, and those who refused to leave their property never believing it would erupt. Aug 19, 2016 - Lighthouses, Hikes, and Kites

We set out this morning on what we thought would be a short day so we could get back by the time Doug and Mildred arrived. It turned out to be a pretty long day, didn't get back until 4:30 or 5. It was a search for lighthouses. We took a short detour to see Gray River covered bridge. It was built in the Ahlberg family partially because they owned land on both sides of the river.
