Aug 24, 2012 - The Snake

Today’s travels traverse some of the most important sections of the entire journey of the Corps. As they stumbled out of the Bitterroots half starved, they were counting again on the Indians to help them out. This time it was the Chopunish or Nez Perce. Clark had scouted ahead and made contact with the tribe in that area. Once again it was an Indian woman that prevented total catastrophe for the Corps. It seems that the chiefs had decided to kill Clark and his small group. However, an old woman named Watkuweis who had lived among the whites...

Jun 10, 2012 - Burbank, Washington

6/10 – 6/12 While David and Dianne headed to a repair place for work on their motorhome we went back to Hood Park (yes, another 4 mile trip) for a couple more days. This time we had a beautiful site right on the Snake River. We spent a day visiting with our friends Bill Joyce and Daine Melde who were visiting the area at a campground in Richland. They gave us a great tour of the Richland area which included the Hanford Nuclear Reservation (known as the most contaminated nuclear site in the US) where both Bill and Diane worked at one time....

May 29, 2012 - Burbank, Washington

5/29 – 5/31 I drove 28 miles on SR730 and US12 to Hood Park COE campground in Burbank, Washington. I was joined the first night by David and Dianne. Dianne, like Joan, was also taking a flight from Pasco, so David and I will be bacheloring it up (my computer says that that is not a word) until they return. We put 1549 miles on the house and 455 miles on the Jeep in April. 6/1 – 6/6 We finished our stay in Hood Park, a very nice Corp of Engineer’s (COE) campground. May 20, 2012 - Hood Park, Burbank, WA (just east of Kennewick)

We left Memaloose State Park the morning of May 20th and drove 151 miles to Hood Park in Burbank, WA. The route was east on I94, north on I82, north on US395 then east on US12. I94 took us along side the Columbia River until just before turning north on I82. We experienced quite a change of scenery from the forested slopes of the Cascades to the arid deserts of central Oregon and Washington. The Columbia River is very wide with numerous dams generating power for the region. Each dam has a series of locks so river barge traffic can move...

Oct 18, 2011 - getting started

Going to look at another used RV....still leaning toward the one at Russ Deans....not sure what to do....wish it was spring...however I don't want to sit here all winter....I want to go to warm weather...somewhere....am I crazy, praying for guidance....asking others for their thoughts.....it is confusing...
