Jan 29, 2015 - Visit to the Pacific Northwest
In dire need of a little grandkid time, we booked a flight out of San Antonio to Washington State to spend some time with the kids. Amber lovingly gave us her guest room for a week, and Michael loaned us his 'baby,' his dodge Ram truck. We have great kids. It was a whirlwind week, capped off by being in the Seattle area for the Super Bowl, and all of the accompanying excitement of the home team's achievement. People in the NW go crazy for the home team, and it was a blast to be part of it again, if only for a little while. I still can't...Jump to full entry
Oct 26, 2013 - Goodbye Washington, Hello Arizona
I spent the night at Kelly & Alex's house so she could drive me to the airport today. I was already in bed when Jake poked his head into my room. I called him over to give him a little neck rub and the next thing i knew he hopped into the bed and laid down beside me. Well, having been used to John and Toby in bed I thought, what the heck and let him stay. Throughout the night I would wake up and reach out and rub his neck or tummy. Seemed to be calming for both of us. I have mixed feelings about leaving Washington. For one, and the biggest...Jump to full entry
Oct 25, 2013 - Almost gone
We had to get things in order in our preparation to leave. Have the power turned off, the internet and up our data usage on Verizon to use the WiFi hot spot again. John took the truck in to have the 5th wheel hitch fitted for our new long bed truck. All went well for a simple $800. Whew. But, one must do what is necessary. It is only money, right? Darrell & Darlene stopped by to say hello and set up a time that they will head out with John to Oregon. So far so good with their new truck, but then again, they haven't tried to pull the RV yet....Jump to full entry
Oct 24, 2013 - Can you believe it?
Not a darn thing to say about us. We can be pretty boring at times. Just trying to figure out what we needed to do before heading out of town. Remember how I mentioned about our friends who bought a brand new King Ranch Ford 350 truck to pull their new 5th wheel? It had issues pulling and the dealer said it was the drive line. They "fixed" it and off they went to Medford, Oregon. But, problem still there, so they contacted dealer who convinced them to bring it back. They did. Dealer said it was trying to pull a trailer that was too heavy....Jump to full entry
Oct 23, 2013 - Bumpy Roads ahead......
Let me first say, we love the new truck. Yessirreee, it is pretty snazzy! Signed up for Sirius radio for our 1 year free and got the new truck registered with our insurance company. However....isn't there always a "however"? John got up at 6 and left for a 2 hour drive to the place where they were going to change our 5th wheel hitch onto the new truck bed. Ouch. Couldn't do it. They didn't have the equipment to change from a short bed hitch to a long bed hitch. John was not happy. They wanted lots of $$$ to order a new one and scratch ours....Jump to full entry
Oct 22, 2013 - Patience can bring you good things.
Oh Happy Day!! After 2 years of wishing and hoping, after begging, questioning, pleading, searching, talking and just plain being obnoxious...we did the only thing in this world which would make John a happy camper. We got a new truck! Yessir..we got a 2013 Dodge Ram 4x4 turbo diesel with all the whips and jangles a man could ask for. Sunroof, auto seat adjustments, seat warmers, wheel warmers, Sirius Radio, navigation, blue tooth, buttons that I still don't know what they mean yet....and big seats, large back seating capacity, Western...Jump to full entry
Oct 18, 2013 - To truck or not to truck
Busy and not so busy day. Sounds confusing, but believe me, it is just as confusing to me. I did make my reservation for Phoenix for next Saturday. Will be sure to be loaded up on pain killers to make the flight better for me and for those who will be seated around me. John is getting more and more interested in getting a new truck. Ours is a 2007 and it has over 100,000 miles on it. We know that some big repairs will be coming up as that just happens when a vehicle gets more and more miles on it. He has been looking at trucks online and...Jump to full entry
Oct 17, 2013 - Decision made.
I love it when plans come together. We decided to check out RV parks close to Sun City West where my doctor is and what would be close to Lois & Jack, my best friend. We found the Paradise RV Resort in Sun City. Called and they have a special winter rate that we would qualify for $750 for 2 months or more. We put our down payment in and called Jack & Lois who went out to the park to scope it out for us. They were so cute. They went into the office to find what spots would be available and found the best one. It has it's own cactus on it....Jump to full entry
Oct 16, 2013 - Thoughtful day
Today was quite a day. We spent most of the day with going over the pros & cons of leaving here and going to Arizona, trying to find a surgeon and someone to monitor my blood levels and if we went, where to park the RV. I know one thing for sure...we must get pain meds. My pain level is frequently a "10" and that is happening more often. I want to keep it at bay, to conserve the pain meds that I have now, but each day is becoming more and more difficult. I have a great compassion now for people living with chronic pain. We have some...Jump to full entry
Oct 15, 2013 - Busy day
Middle of the month already. Wow..time is zooming right along. Darrell & Darlene took off this morning for Medford, Oregon. They called tonight and reported that the truck has a slight shimmy. He is buying air bags for it tomorrow and hopes that this will alleviate the problem. Not too happy with the service he got at Ford right now. I haven't spoken about the hip lately, but just to catch up...it is awful. The pain is increasing and I am running out of pain medications. I have even given a thought to medical marijuana, but believe it would...Jump to full entry
Oct 12, 2013 - Where there is a will....
Today was football Sunday. Thank goodness the Seahawks won. We had a happy household. What truly amazed me, however, was my husband's dedication to not missing a moment of the game. The outside windows of our 5th wheeler are shaded, so you can see out in the daytime while inside but cannot see in (unless you are up close to the window) from the outside. John shaves his head and to keep from leaving hairs on the bathroom floor he goes outside to do it. Dilemma...the game is on...what to do? He is so enterprising. He turned the TV so it...Jump to full entry
Oct 11, 2013 - Gravity
Latest update on Darrell & Darlene's 2014 Ford 350 repairs. The part is now supposed to arrive on Monday morning. They originally were told it would arrive last Thursday. So, it looks like they will be here through the weekend. We all went to lunch at Dickie's BBQ for pulled pork sandwiches. Yummy, especially the free ice cream cones after. Off to the movies. We went to see "Gravity" in 3D. Wow, it was great. Only 1 1/2 hours but every minute was action packed and had you on the edge of the seat. I do think, however, that you could probably...Jump to full entry
