Mar 16, 2019 - Departure

And we’re off! While the signs say there’s a 70min wait at Peace Arch, the cars are a movin’ so it shouldn’t effect our ETA too much, which is currently a 6pm arrival in Florence, if we don’t stop...which we will...so bets are on for what time we actually arrive;)

Aug 15, 2018 - Blaine WA - Birch Bay RV Campground

Here we are just a few miles south of the Canadian border. When our plans changed and friends Don and Judy couldn’t meet us in Montana, we had some time to kill, so we headed north. Okay, we didn’t just randomly end up in Blaine. Somewhere on our travels, a rock fell on one of our skylights and broke it. We remember hearing a rock hit us, but can’t for the life of us remember where it was. Anyway, Roger knew from past experience that the skylights were manufactured in Langley BC just north of Blaine. He called them and found out he could...

Jul 26, 2017 - Enjoying home at the Bay

We have been enjoying the summer here at the beach. The weather has been absolutely fantastic. No rain for weeks and those blue skies we come home for every year. You can't beat the weather up here from late June into September. We have been making more plans for the trip down to Florida. We plan on leaving in early September and will arrive in Clermont the beginning of November. Plans are to make stops at Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Bryce NP, Arches NP, Canyonlands NP, North Rim of Grand Canyon NP, South Rim of Grand...

May 17, 2017 - A week in Birch Bay, WA

Off to Birch Bay and Blaine, the last city before the Canadian border. There is so much agriculture up here and lots of small farms in the Birch Bay area. There are berry bushes everywhere and lots of greenery, due to the constant light precipitation. We stayed for a week at a Resorts of Distinction (ROD) park to save a little money and to wait out the rain that was predicted for on and off this week. When Larry was a child about 9 or 10, his mother sent him off to a dairy farm for a few weeks in the summer. It was owned by the father of...

Aug 26, 2016 - Part 1 of 3

Part 1 of 3: To back up to where I left off back in mid July – this is what has kept us busy over the last month plus. From July 19 to Aug 8 we visited family and friends who entertained us and showed us the areas where they lived. First, we went into Portland, OR and visited Whiskey Tom and his family. This is a Vietnamese man who was on Don’s navy EOD team when he was in Viet Nam during the war. It had been many years since Don had spent any time with Tom and we enjoyed our visit. Portland is a beautiful city as is the surrounding area....

Aug 26, 2015 - Back to Birch Bay

I came back to Blaine, WA due to the wild fires burning in the North Central part of Washington. Leavenworth was not on fire but had restrictions on air quality. The fires were still about 25 miles away. Here in Blaine and also in La Conner all of my TV is coming from Canada so I am not getting a lot of news here about the fires. Saturday we had a real bad wind storm. There were trees down all over. I heard there were 500,000 homes without electricity Saturday night. We lost electricity about 10:00 Saturday morning and finally got it back...

Aug 1, 2015 - Birch Bay TT, Blaine, WA

Got to Birch Bay on 8-1 a day before my reservation. This was a three day holiday week end for British Columbia and the campground was full. They sent me down to a Casino about 15 miles south. Had a good supper and lost a little money. The weather was warm when I got there but it cooled down for good sleeping. Came back to Birch Bay on 8-2. Drove around a little Tuesday. Went up to Blaine. Not much there. I have a real nice couple Scott and Janet camped next to me. They have suggested that I go to White Rock, British Columbia for supper and...

Oct 15, 2012 - Day 6 - Birch Bay

The forecast for today was for rain and wind so we scrubbed our trip to Vancouver until Wednesday which is supposed to be better. The early part of the day was mild with even a few sun breaks but we could see the bad weather out in the Pacific on the radar pictures so we knew it was coming. We drove to Bellingham to visit my Mom's and Grandparents graves at the Bayview Cemetery, checked out an RV park in Ferndale and stopped for Fish and Chips on the way back. We got back to the coach about 4:00 just as the rain started to pick up. The...

Oct 14, 2012 - Day 5 - Birch Bay

Today we were pretty cooped up because of the rainy weather but were lucky enough to find a local Canadian TV station carrying the Seakhawks so we enjoyed watching them win in the last two minutes. That's about all their is to report but I thought I would experiment with trying to post a link to a Youtube video and see how that goes. This is a link to Simon's Cat, one of my favorites. HERE

Oct 13, 2012 - Day 4 - Birch Bay

Rained off and on all night. Mostly just hanging out in the coach today. Went to the store and toured the bay including the State Park and a trip up to the folks old place on Maple Way. Still there. Currently waiting for a call from friends Rod and Barb who are coming by for a short visit then we are going out to dinner with them. Trying to figure out a way to see the Seahawks game tomorrow. Might have to go to a restaurant with a TV since our sat dish does not work here and there do not appear to be any local channels. Tried to find a way...

Sep 13, 2012 - Beachwood Resort

Stayed at Beachwood Resort in Blaine, WA for seven nights. Very nice K/M Resorts of America RV park that affiliates with RPI/C2C. We are RPI Preferred/C2C Deluxe members. These private campground memberships allow their members to use affiliated public RV parks for $11.00 per night in FHU sites. This is a highly recommended RV Resort! Note 2: During this week we went out for dinner three times with our good friends Klaus & Kamla Stickel. On Sun., we went to Paso del Norte Family Mexican Restaurant in Blaine, WA; on Tues., we went to India...

Aug 28, 2012 - Sturgis, Sourth Dakota to Blaine, WA

As planned, we left the on-going (and very noisy) festivities of the motorcycle rally at Sturgis, South Dakota a couple of days early to avoid the “real” rowdies. Since all the gas stations around here had raised their prices enough to make their annual profits in one month, I checked the internet to find the cheapest fuel between here and our next destination, Billings, Montana and found that the Flying J at Gillette, Wyoming was thirty cents a gallon cheaper than the locals. Some of you may have seen my FaceBook posting of Wyoming ---...
