Oct 15, 2012 - Day 6 - Birch Bay

The forecast for today was for rain and wind so we scrubbed our trip to Vancouver until Wednesday which is supposed to be better. The early part of the day was mild with even a few sun breaks but we could see the bad weather out in the Pacific on the radar pictures so we knew it was coming. We drove to Bellingham to visit my Mom's and Grandparents graves at the Bayview Cemetery, checked out an RV park in Ferndale and stopped for Fish and Chips on the way back. We got back to the coach about 4:00 just as the rain started to pick up. The...

Oct 14, 2012 - Day 5 - Birch Bay

Today we were pretty cooped up because of the rainy weather but were lucky enough to find a local Canadian TV station carrying the Seakhawks so we enjoyed watching them win in the last two minutes. That's about all their is to report but I thought I would experiment with trying to post a link to a Youtube video and see how that goes. This is a link to Simon's Cat, one of my favorites. HERE

Oct 13, 2012 - Day 4 - Birch Bay

Rained off and on all night. Mostly just hanging out in the coach today. Went to the store and toured the bay including the State Park and a trip up to the folks old place on Maple Way. Still there. Currently waiting for a call from friends Rod and Barb who are coming by for a short visit then we are going out to dinner with them. Trying to figure out a way to see the Seahawks game tomorrow. Might have to go to a restaurant with a TV since our sat dish does not work here and there do not appear to be any local channels. Tried to find a way...

Aug 28, 2012 - Sturgis, Sourth Dakota to Blaine, WA

As planned, we left the on-going (and very noisy) festivities of the motorcycle rally at Sturgis, South Dakota a couple of days early to avoid the “real” rowdies. Since all the gas stations around here had raised their prices enough to make their annual profits in one month, I checked the internet to find the cheapest fuel between here and our next destination, Billings, Montana and found that the Flying J at Gillette, Wyoming was thirty cents a gallon cheaper than the locals. Some of you may have seen my FaceBook posting of Wyoming ---...

Aug 20, 2012 - Birch Bay, Blaine, WA, near Canadian border

We spent 7 days at Birch Bay. Crabbing season just opened in this area on Thursday the 16th while we were here. Lots of people at the state beach park putting out traps and cooking crab at the picnic area. I caught 3 keepers Thursday and 5(the daily limit) on Friday. I've caught 19 edible crabs so far on the trip!I pulled the trap then because we can't eat it all! Froze some for later! Birch Bay is shallow and the tide swings about 10 feet. Lots of the bay dries out during low tide and people walk all over out there. The bottom is very...

Sep 5, 2011 - Vancouver, BC

Today is Sunday and we went to church in Delta, B.C. with our former pastor from First Baptist Church of Tempe. They moved up here about a year ago. Rick is not preaching today. Their senior pastor is preaching at the church they planted and the pastor of the planted church is preaching at Rick’s church. He is in his early to mid 30’s and very contemporary, but is on fire for Jesus and he has a great message. His message is out of First John, chapter 5. Verse 12 says He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son does not have...

Sep 2, 2011 - Change of Plans

Well, it did rain. It has been raining off and on for 3 days. We hung out at the trailer for most of the time. On the third day, Carolyn was ready for a little alone time so she went to pick up the prescription medicine for Callie. We give her prednisone for her intestinal problems and an anti allergy medicine to keep her from scratching all the time. We have to get them from an animal pharmacy. One of them has to be mixed (compounded) so we always have to have them contact our vet so they can send them the prescription. This pharmacy is...

Aug 30, 2011 - Mt. Baker

We are still near Blaine, WA but have moved about three miles to the Birch Bay Thousand Trails park. We decided to extend our stay in this area and “hook up” with our friends, Dave and Jan Jenkins, on our trip back. We both wish to travel into the canyon lands of southern Utah, and we sure do not want to get there while it is still the hottest part of the summer. So we will slow down our pace and enjoy more of the wonderful cool climate of Washington and Oregon before crossing the mountains and venturing into the deserts and canyons. The...

Aug 29, 2011 - Beach Time

It started off cloudy today and looked like rain. We had to go into Blaine and mail a birthday present to Carolyn’s mom. She will be 79 this year. She is doing pretty good considering she is on dialysis. She has gotten where she drives herself the 30 miles three times a week to Sioux City for it. Other than that she is doing well. We are thinking about getting work camping jobs in South Dakota next summer so we will be within 1 day of her in case anything comes up. We drove around a little and went to the end of a spit by Blaine. We saw...
