Jan 26, 2013 - Still in the rain
After a nice early departure from home the trip has begun. Caught the 1245 ferry and duty free stop we whisked thru the border with no problems. Watched a fifth wheel who was ahead of us on the ferry being vigorously searched, he seemed like a guy who should be searched. Set up in the rain and had a nice homemade turkey pie for supper was very good. Off to southern Washington tomorrow hope we see the sun soon.

Jun 25, 2012 - WWU Sculpture Tour
We drove as far north in WA as we could without crossing the border into Canada, The Birch Bay TT Resort was beautiful. We stopped at a roadside pickup, selling organic cherries for $2/lb. I have never seen such huge cherries, turns out they were Titan cherries. The elderly gentleman sold me 3 lbs. then added a big handful, just in case he missed a bad cherry in the bunch. Then he added another handful just in case. We had lunch at a brewery on the waterfront, recommended by my Hidden sights in WA book. I can testify that their mildest...

May 13, 2012 - Bellingham WA
We, well Michele, slept in today because it is, after all, Mother’s Day. So after making our Mother’s Day phone calls and a couple little bus maintenance things, we got a later start than usual. We finally left about noon and headed toward Deception Pass State Park which is a little less than an hour SW of the campground, near Anacortes. We got near the park and the traffic started to get a little crazy – it seems that the combination of Sunday, Mother’s Day and beautiful weather brought the locals out in droves. It took us about 15 minutes...

Today, we went to Canada. We left the bus early – for us anyway – at 8:30 for the hour trip to Vancouver, British Columbia. The US/Canadian border is only about 20 minutes up I-5 from Bellingham and the stop at the border was painless - show our passports; answer a couple questions about the purpose of our trip, whether we had any weapons on board, etc. I guess our answers were sufficient because they sent us on our way. The traffic on the US bound side was backed up for over a mile which, according to Tony, is because Canadians flee...

May 11, 2012 - Bellingham WA
We woke up, walked the security system and headed off in the Jeep to find the last – for now – of our needed RV parts. It was a fairly painless journey back to Camping World about 5 miles from our overnight home, then we headed east to the town of Sedro-Woolley for some breakfast before our grueling 30 minute trip to the next campground. Our home for the night had no spots for Friday-Saturday so we had to move on, but we had things to do in the Bellingham area so we found another campground that was only half an hour north and booked it for...

Feb 13, 2012 - Away we go
0948 and away we go. On the road to the ferry. Motor home purring like a kitten. Weather and water was like a Caribbean cruise. Only forgot a few minor things, first dollar store we come do is a must stop. Lost the first wine glass going down Ryan Rd hill don't know how that happened. Made the requisite duty free stop at Peace Arch and then across border with minimal delay. Still getting lots of trailer questions, no one believes a Gold Wing was in there. Well its 8PM and Randi is getting ready for bed travelling is tough eh lol. Got new US...

No photos today. The morning was spent doing grocery shopping and domestic chores. In the afternoon Tony went with Paul to a girl’s soccer game he was refereeing. Afterwards, we enjoyed a nice dinner with Susan and Paul at their home.

Today we drove the North Cascades Scenic Highway across 5,477 foot Washington Pass, past Diablo Lake, Ross Lake, and George Gorge. This was one of the most beautiful drives and spectacular scenery anywhere we have been in the “lower 48”. The weather was picture-perfect! We arrived at our campground in Bellingham, which is only 24 miles south of the border with Canada. We are here to visit my cousin, Susan, and husband Paul and went to their house for dinner. My cousin, Emily, Susan’s sister, was staying with them for a couple days. She has...

After a relatively quiet night, we awoke to a beautiful day in British Columbia. We attempted to give our wood to four different people. Upon stopping at the visitors' center in Abbotsford, BC (a few miles form border), they allowed us to throw it in their dumpster. We suspected that we would not be asked about firewood, and we had most of it in the basement storage. We didn't want to take the chance that we would have to turn around and return to BC to dump it. The border crossing was VERY busy and easy. Residency? How long in Canada? Buy...

Aug 9, 2011 - Bellingham, WA.
Today we headed to Bellingham WA. We were under the impression it would just be a day of drivng. We left Cache Creek and drove along the Thompson River famous for white water rafting and steelhead fishing. The Thompson River Canyon is a winding narrow uphill and downhill drive. There were a couple construction areas. The views were awesome. You follow the river through the canyon along with the trains on the hillside adding to the scenery. At the town of Spences Bridge the Thompson River continues until it meets up with the Frasier River....
