Jun 28, 2011 - Finally
Left the RV resort in Black Diamond, WA early this morning and headed for the Ford dealership in Auburn, WA to get some warranty work done on the coach. After they checked it out, they said they needed to order a part and it wouldn't be in until tomorrow morning. They told us we could stay dry camp on their lot overnight and even hooked us up to 30 amp electricity. We left for awhile to complete the papers I still needed signed for my condo sale. It has been a nightmare getting it all done as notaries here don't seem to want to witness your...

May 15, 2011 - To the Races
We spent the morning cleaning house and plotting our trip home. Sandy and Pat came over in the early afternoon and we all went to the horse races. The racetrack, Emerald Downs, is here in Auburn. There is indoor seating so we were warm and dry even though it was cold and rainy outside. It was Bill's second horse race and Sue's first so we were novices. And, as beginner's luck would have it, we came away winners. It was really fun. After the races, we went to a Mexican place for dinner which was very good then came home. It has been great...

May 14, 2011 - Touring the Countryside
Sandy picked us up at 8:15am and we met Jamie for breakfast at a neat cafe in town. The food was delicious and we enjoyed seeing Jamie again. When we finished, Jamie went to work and the rest of us went back to the city to visit the Klondike Museum. This is a National Park Service Museum and it details the journeys of five men who braved the hardships of the Klondike Gold Rush. One of the five is Great Grandpa Shape. It was neat to follow his journey at the different stations and learn more about the life and rough times that he and the...

May 13, 2011 - Touring Seattle with Sandy and Jamie
This morning we went out for fuel and did some shopping at Kohl's. A little before noon, Sandy and Jamie came and we took off. First we stopped at an old drive-in in Auburn and had lunch. Then we drove to Bremerton which is across Puget Sound from Seattle. Along the way, we had glimpses of Mount Rainier. When you can see the mountain here they say "the mountain is out". It was pretty hazy but could be seen. Bremerton has a Naval Shipyard and a pretty marina with some unusual fountains. From Bremerton, we caught the ferry across the sound to...

We made a stop at the Mount St. Helens Visitor Center in Silver Lake, just off I-5. They have a really great film showing the eruption and displays outlining the days up to it and the changes since. It was very interesting. On a clear day, you can see the mountain from...
