Looking back at the photographs, I should have taken more, more different angles. The lighting on the pumpkins was great. I didn't get any closeups of the apples. It's a good thing it is just down the road. I need to go back with a list of possible photos.

Apr 26, 2014 - Rocky Knob Wildflower Hike

Saturday, we headed up to Rocky Knob Recreation Area off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia for a wildflower hike. The Rock Castle Gorge Trail, a National Recreation Trail, makes an 11-mile loop with great wildflower viewing opportunities. We left the Chapel Hill area around 7 and made the drive up, arriving at the parking area off CC Camp Road around 930. Apr 27, 2013 - Rock Castle Gorge

Yesterday, we headed north to Virginia for a day hike in Rocky Knob Recreation Area. This is a really great area to see spring wildflowers and I try to makeit out every year in April to see them. The weather forecast suggested a possibility of rain and mostly cloudy skies, but nothing extreme. And it turned out to be pretty nice; although the sky was cloudy and grey, we never got more than a drop a two or rain and the temperature was in the upper 60s - nice for a strenuous hike.
