Apr 19, 2013 - You Took A Fine Time To Leave Me Loose Wheel!
Hi all Y'all. We left Rocky Top CG yesterday morning, weather fine but overcast. We did all the usual stuff that's done on the road stopping for gas and the odd rest stop. Following my usual routine doing a walk around the trailer checking for external signs of trouble. We arrived at Candy Hill CG here in Winchester, Virginia, stopped at the registration office and was led to our camping site. The first thing I did was get out of the truck and go around the back of the RV to unlock the door for Rita and HeyU coming from the other side. When...

Jan 13, 2013 - Southward Bound - Day 1
Saturday, 12 Jan 2013 Began our travels at 7am, temperature was just above the freezing mark at 34 degrees. Most of the day we drove in fog and/or drizzle. Just enough wetness on the road for the tires to kick up ‘yucky’ road stuff, but not enough to clean any of it off. By end of day, both vehicles were pretty dirty. After about 2:30 in the afternoon, the sun made an appearance. We traveled 540 miles today, easily getting to Candy Hill Campground, Winchester, Va just before sun dawn.

Oct 13, 2012 - Hugs and Goodbyes to our Caravan friends--then off toward the Blue Ridge Parkway
October 13, 2012-Today we say goodbye to our travel companions and our travel leaders and take off on our own. We had another campfire and breakfast provided by the staff, which gave us a chance to give them their tips and say goodbye to everyone else. We were one of the last to leave the campground, and this time when we crossed the border we had no problems. We are taking the scenic route straight down through New York and Pennsylvania on U.S. 219. It takes us through the Alleghenies. While it is not an interstate, and it went through...

Apr 28, 2012 - Winchester, Virginia
Today marks a week on the road. Around 10:15 we left Wally World and hit the road for Winchester, 214 miles away. Straight shot up I-81. Half hour on the road we hit really bad rain...a thunderstorm so dark you could see the headlights on the road. Lasted about 90 minutes. After about 170 miles it had stopped and we took a break in a rest stop. Another Journey pulled up next to us and the folks on board hung out a window to ask us how we liked RVing. They have been on the road for 10 years and 110,000 miles...they go from one Baptist...

Very short Internet time here only 1 hour free and you...

Jun 27, 2011 - Down Days 2 & 3
Not much happening on Sunday or Monday. Sue sunbathed at the pool on Sunday while I tried to fix the hot water again with no luck. All is not lost because there's a Camping World nearby in Winchester, VA. We left for Winchester late this afternoon. Along the way we passed one of our Roadside Attractions, Dinosaurland, but didn't stop as it looks like it's still back in the 50's. Good old Camping World had the check valves I think I need so I bought two. Whenever you go into CW, you can't come out with just one thing. After $180 worth of...

Jun 20, 2011 - Travel to Winchester, VA
We awoke this morning with trouble in the Burkett coach once again! It seems they were kept awake all night by strange smells being pulled in through the AC vents! After much discussion on the subject, it was determined that their holding tank had not been emptied from George and Ron's trip to Indiana two weeks before our departure. Patti and I are still trying to figure out what those guys ate (while up there in "Amish Country"), to create such foul odors !! Ha Ha No problem, once the tank was cleaned out, everything was coming up roses!...
