May 10, 2014 - Back Bay

Back Bay is located just south of Virginia beach, west of Sandbridge. It is shallow and full of wildlife. The only way to see Back Bay is by Kayak. Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge is a natural habitat for many reptiles and critters. It's not a big bay, but it has many kayak trails. I been wanting to try a kayak and this was the perfect opportunity. A local kayak rental company has an ECO guided kayak tours. PERFECT! I invited Dan, my youngest son to come along. We teamed up with a young but very well informed ECO tour guide. It was just...

May 9, 2014 - False Cape State Park, Virginia

What happens when you add 1 plus 2 plus 5 plus 5 plus 2 plus 1? This equals to a very long cross country bike ride. Denise asked, I thought you said we were going hiking. I said it was a bike hike. It took us about 3.5 hours to do the 16 miles. There was no destination. We could have rode all the way to the North Carolina line but that was twice as far as we did ride.. As Denise was sprawled out on the couch, recoverying, I did mention, "let's try for the NC line on our next visit". If a look could kill…… But Denise was a trooper. She hung...

We are about 9 miles by bike or hike (no motor vehicles allowed) to North Carolina line and about 10 miles by car to Virginia Beach. I asked Denise if she would like to go for a hike tomorrow. She said yes. We are going to ‘False...

Oct 16, 2013 - HOME!

Sandbridge, VA We are home! We were gone for 75 days and drove 6,241 miles and another 1,000 miles in the tow vehicle. We went from coast to coast and saw so many wonderful things, Bill asked me what was my favorite place (not counting Patrick’s) and I can’t say just one thing. The covered bridges in Indiana, biking the Hiawatha trail are probably at the top, Of course, being with Patrick and the grandchildren was the best. We were able to go to Jackson Hole and Great Wolf Lodge as well as spend a month in their neighbor’s driveway. What a...

Jun 11, 2007 - Sandbridge Beach

June 11-17 2007- Before the premiere of Otto the Play, the family all met at Sandbridge Beach, on the outskirts of Virginia Beach. It was a cool little surfing area with one decent little restuarant that had amazing banana daquiris. Great condo. It was cool, but I did get a decent tan when I returned to Nashville for the opening of the show on June 18.
