Woke in Flagstaff to a power outage so up and on the road for our last leg of the journey from Flagstaff to Phoenix! Beautiful day for our last drive... ended up at John and Amy's but everyone was there and ready to help. Had a great lunch and headed to Duffy and Bobs to play with the dog, do some laundry, TAKE A SHOWER and chill out! Thanks for being out there in cyber world and following us... GOTTA SLEEP! :-)

Mar 31, 2012 - Day 5 - Santa Rosa, NM to Flagstaff, AZ

Almost to Phoenix! Actually hit our first traffic jam today... A tractor trailer had caught fire and stopped traffic for miles. We did have some great scenery to stop at and drive through. Amazing colors to the land and sky. Made it to Flagstaff... there was still piles of (old) snow in the parking lot.... We had a great dinner in town.... heading to bed now - THEN on to PHOENIX!

Mar 30, 2012 - Day 4 - From Eternity to Santa Rosa, NM

Well, we made it into New Mexico today. We went from mostly green lands, through some very flat and brown land, to some hilly and farm land... Enjoyed the souvenir shop on the reservation. The swans visited with some local bison. But mostly we just cleaned bugs off the windshield and headed west.... Going to bed now....

Mar 29, 2012 - Day 3 - From Here to Eternity

Well, we managed to get to Memphis - stopped at the Memphis Visitors Center for some photos with Elvis (see photos) - then headed downtown to see Graceland. First we stopped by Walgreen's to replace the cooler that Swandella and Geselle broke... Had a blast visiting some sights but did not spend the $30+ each for tickets to tour Elvis' home.... then, on the road again. We stopped for a lunch at a great bar-b-que place called Nicks then continued on Rt 40 through Toad Suck, Arkansas and into Oklahoma then through several Indian Reservations....

Mar 28, 2012 - Day 2 - Salem, VA to Brownsville, TN

Greetings from somewhere in Tenn. in the Smokies-looking out for the bear. Had a quick bite to eat at Cracker Barrel then on the road toward Knoxville. Geselle and Swandella must have over snacked on the potato bacon cheese jalapeno egg roll looking thing we got yesterday because they broke the Styrofoam cooler they were sharing as a booster seat so they could see out of the windows. The trip so far has been very good. We just hit 1,000 miles (from home) around 8 pm this evening so we called it a day.... We're about 50 miles from Memphis...

Aug 11, 2011 - OTRA - VA - Salem

On the road a bit later today (10:15 a.m.) since we were only traveling about 150 miles today. And another easy drive it was up I-80. Nothing too outstanding but a lot of green trees and large mowed fields. Before we got to the campground, we stopped at a Walmart that was right along the interstate to fill our water bottles. I’ve got to learn to NOT let Bob go into a grocery store with any money in his pocket because he will spend it…down to his last dime today! Spent about 30 minutes in there, too. While I was waiting for him to return, I...

Nov 20, 2010 - home again, home again

Off to a great start, 8:30 a.m., cool and crisp, REM on the radio singing Man on the Moon. Could we please stop talking about airport screening and "pat-downs" on local television? 270 miles to go today, longest segment of the trip home. notes from the road: 1. When you don't have time to get your arteries clogged at Waffle House, a sugar spike at Dunkin Donuts is a good substitute, especially in the fall when they put pumpkin in stuff! 2. Next trip we need a map of mountain ranges so we can stop arguing about whether we're driving past the...

Aug 26, 2010 - Blue Ridge Parkway Part 1

We had heard the Blue Ridge Parkway was incredible and we are not disappointed! It is magnificent. Pictures do not do the scenery justice. A photo is not able to capture the depth and grandeur of these beautiful mountains. Many of my pictures came out looking too misty/smoky to post, so I will just post a few of them so you can get a general idea of what we enjoyed today during our refreshingly cool and relaxing drive on this parkway. (Again temps in the upper 60’s and a speed limit of 45 mph… we are loving this!) Although amazing during...

Jun 30, 2010 - Day 17

Another short drive today. We stopped at Dixie Caverns Campground for the night and I took the tour of the Caverns. There were 340 steps so Jean opted to stay in the motor home and prep for dinner. My brother, John, and his wife, Alice, met up with us at the campground and we had dinner together and a real nice visit. Totally unplanned, but great timing!

Mar 1, 2008 - Spring has Sprung!

Well, this has been a very exciting time around here. On the 30th of January our daughter and her life partner presented us with two small bundles of joy. Both boys they are sure to be a handful when they get older, but for now they just like to eat and sleep alot. We are staying around to help them get settled some and be here if they need help. But we are also getting antsy about leaving and going to Virginia. It is there that we have decided to settle as far as buying a home. Though we do not intend to quit traveling. I am sure that...
