Oct 12, 2013 - Slower Than a Wet Week

Location: Great Wicomico Marina and Campground, Burgess, VA (where we keep the boat) Weather: Rain, rain and more rain. And wind, too Boat Names: Nothing notable to mention, as we are not going anywhere “Well, the best laid plans of mice and men....”. All our high hopes of leaving Pittsburgh last Saturday, and beginning the voyage on Monday morning have gone astray. Location: In our home marina: Buddy's Marina and Campground in Burgess VA (the northern neck of Virginia) Climate: Sunny and comfortable with highs in the 80s Boat names we have seen recently that we liked: **Thrifty it Ain't **Keep it Simple Although there was plenty of discussion about Hurricane Earl and the possibility of it coming close to or into the southern Chesapeake, it moved more to the east and missed us as we raced southward toward our home marina. Roger read all morning and is now replacing all filters and cartridges on board. I tinkered, caught up on my Food Channel programs and knit several inches on my...

The little town of Reedville was as ideal as you could expect or want a town to be. Our morning walk around the town and lots of picture taking of houses dated from 1930's was a real treat, even the neighborhood dogs were friendly. When we left the harbor to enter the Chesapeake we could tell if might be rough due to the head winds. An understatement at best. The waves were only...

Feb 7, 2010 - Delayed Departure

Well, we were scheduled to depart Reedville, VA today but the blizzard of 2010 put a little hiccup in our plans. There is about 6-8 inches of snow and we will spend today "digging" to see if we can get the RV out and head south to warmer weather! The current plan is to try to depart Monday, February 8th!
