Jun 29, 2006 - Chesapeake, VA

We actually had wanted to be in the DC area for the 4th, but a lot of the camp parks weren't available, not to mention all the storm damage, etc. So we had to make a detour. No big deal. We only went a short distance up to Chesapeake, VA near Virginia Beach. The State Park we picked turned out to be more expensive than our Trailer Life directory indicated, which was not a big deal, since we were only staying one night. But then it turned out to be another "black hole" with no satellite, cel or internet reception. So I wrote post cards, then...

Jun 18, 2006 - June 18-19, 2006 - The Beginning

June 18, 2006 - Father's Day evening Papa took us to the Days Inn Airport Express on Santa Rosa Ave. We left SR at 7pm. Our flight from San Francisco, took off at 10:45pm. The excitement was high. Carsen and Peyton each had a backpack filled with goodies-new forms of entertainment for the traveling part of the trip. Peyton sat with Mom on the bus to SF and didn't fall asleep until the bus pulled into the airport terminal. Carsen sat with Dad and was asleep before we made it out of Santa Rosa. On the plane, Peyton sat with Dad - he thought...

May 18, 2006 - Thursday

Thursday morning. Had a good nights sleep and again awoke at 6:45 AM no alarm clock or watch. Looks like another clear weather day. We will go back to the Wilkes for breakfast around 9:30. We plan to leave here around 11or 12:00 noon. Only 120 miles to Indian Cove Resort but we want to get there early enough to set without pressure. Anne's cousins plan to come to the resort to pick us up so we want time to do what we need before they arrive. Drastic change in plans. We arrived at exactly 2:00 PM, the earliest check in time. When Anne went...

Footloose Kolmans

Oct 10, 2005 - Norfolk, Virginia

The distance from Chesepeake City at the north end to Norfolk at the south end of the Chesapeake Bay is 207 miles. Norfolk is also the north end of the Atlantic ICW heading south and referred to as Mile 0 of the ICW. The Norfolk Navy Base is home to numerous aircraft carriers, destroyers, submarines, cruisers and Navy Tender, all of them armed with machine guns pointing down at us as we cruised innocently by - very strange! We stayed for two nights at the Waterside Marina right downtown, adjacent to the Waterside Festival Marketplace. There...

Sep 2, 2005 - Goodbye Washington hello Virginia Beach!

Got up early and got straight on internet to try and find somewhere to stay for next 3 nights! Luckily we had an email reply from a hostel in Virginia Beach so we headed off there on the Greyhound ...... or so we thought. Turns out the first bus we get on that isn't a Greyhound and it only bloomin breaks down! How Verrrry Dare They!? So, we're in the middle of bleedin no-where on some highway or interstate or whatever the hell it was, and the water runs out. No seriously the water ran out! If it was a Greyhound they would have had some...

Jun 9, 2004 - Virginia Beach, VA

Back to Virginia Beach after 500+ miles of driving yesterday. It was nice to wake up to the view of the ocean. Finally, it's time to see Harry Potter (we listened to HP book 3 in the car earlier in the trip and read it years ago). More photos online.

Nov 29, 2002 - Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Newport News

Snow!! Our arch enemy!! The forecast shows a storm coming right through here this afternoon! What to do? Stay put? Try to outrun it? They are so accurate with their weather reports in the East, we have to take this seriously! We want to see the Carter's Grove Plantation on our way to the Hampton Roads area (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Newport News), so we head out rather early to see the Plantation and get to Virginia Beach ahead of the snow, hopefully. It was cold at Carter's Grove, and spitting a little snow, but it is a beautiful Mansion on...

Jan 15, 2001 - 1992 January-May – Norfolk - Plastic Surgery Associates

During this year I took a few photos at Plastic Surgery Associates. My last day to work there was May 1. They gave me a farewell party. It has been an interesting experience, especially seeing the “Before” and “After” photos on plastic surgery patients. It is amazing what can be done to correct birth defects, scars from accidents, etc.
