Apr 11, 2015 - Reverberations from Martinsville

Ayup – got some catching up to do! We left you after our arrival at Martinsville. Friday, March 27, was rainy. It broke in the afternoon and some fans went to the qualifying. We walked over to get our tickets and walked by the vendor rows. Friday night we went to dinner with Bill to Captain Tom’s Seafood. This is another local favorite and a popular spot for drivers, teams, etc. We can see why! Saturday was sunny, cold and windy. We went to the truck race. Joey Logano beat out veteran NASCAR truck racer Matt Crafton in a gutsy late race...

Mar 27, 2015 - Douglas Lake - on to NASCAR

We stayed at Douglas Lake through Wednesday. We didn’t do much but hang out and (sorry folks in the North) enjoy the great weather. Each day there were 30-40 boat trailers in the access area lot. Should have looked in atlas to note that hwy 58 over the Blue ridge mountains is not much more than a goat trail with no guard rails or stopping areas. Then to top it off at the summit there is a point of interest called Lovers Leap with a 3000 ft shear drop to a valley floor way down there. Randi was not happy LOL. Arrived at track got set up and what happens next, you guessed it SNOW in APR in Virginia cripe picture 2 lol. Another nite...

Away we go 2013

Oct 26, 2009 - Martinsville Speedway

We headed up to Martinsville on Thursday, I think I can smell the hot dogs from here. This is one of our favorite trips each year to our favorite track Martinsville Speedway. The trip was actually not bad getting through Atlanta, Spartanburg, and Charlotte without too many difficulties. We secured a new camping spot this year at an undisclosed location. This web site isn't read by millions on the world wide web but I'm not giving up this location it was too hard to get. We arrived Thursday about 5 o'clock and got our spot on pavement and on...
