Apr 29, 2017 - Very sad to say!!!!

Left Chestnut Knob this morning in some pain, but covered over six miles of our intended 10.7. Made the decision last night to see how it went this morning and leave the trail at VA 623 if the numbness and pain continued! Well, it did so I called "Bubba" the shuttle driver and he met me at 1 PM and took me to Bland VA. Bubba had another guy he had picked up as well from Lake Tahoe Nevada who had similar issues after only two days and was headed West! I gave it all I had but the hips, legs, feet all have revolted on me. POST NOTE: Becky...

Apr 27, 2017 - 8 miles to Knot Mail branch!

Decided to keep going and camp at Crawfish campsite! Awesome site. Put my aching feet in COLD water while reapplying water! Heavenly for a guy whose had 5 foot operations! This is the hardest terrain I have ever hiked bar none! No switchbacks, just straight up and down! Long 12 degree angle for miles! Hips and back don't look like it for sure! Campsite was great though! Thunderstorms ran us in tents about 5 and never came out! Awesome! Lots of Thur hikers passing us northbound! Some doing over 20 miles a day!

Apr 1, 2015 - Spring Break Camping Trip-Hungry Mother State Park

Day-1 Due to one daughter being sick. Addi (my 7-year old), Maggie (my regal aged beagle mix) Headed down the highway. The ride down the road was FUN! Addi bounced from keeping me entertained and asking relevant questions about interesting things that we were seeing on the highway to keeping Maggie entertained. The trip normally takes 5 1/2 hours if you don't stop it took us almost 7 1/2 hours because we stopped about every rest area we had a reason to stop...mostly it was because we wanted to explore not due to any biological need....

Sep 3, 2013 - Marion, Virginia

Depart: Luray, Virginia Arrive: Marion, Virginia What a beautiful state Virginia is! As much as we could we took a number of smaller highways through rural Virginia. We saw a lot of rural Virginia and the small pretty towns, it was a very pretty drive. We also drove some of the Blue Ridge Parkway which is really a continuation of the drive we did yesterday, the Sklyline Drive, both the the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline drive are part of the same mountain chain. Our campsite for the night was at another state campground called Hungry...

Jul 6, 2013 - On the road again.

-- If a picture shows up at the start of this, I uploaded the picture, but I did it earlier, so I am not sure what the picture actually is right now. Hope you like it anyway. I am still having internet problems, so my pictures are lagging behind what I am actually doing. For some reason, I time out before the pictures are actually connected to what I want to say. Today, we left the campground in Dumfries, outside of DC and headed west. We went past a lot of the Civil war battle fields and campgrounds. Several were headquarters for both,...
