Aug 25, 2013 - Leaving Florida Heading NORTHBOUND

Hi everyone: Welcome back to another road trip adventure by the Mottle's Five. Although it nay not be as spectacular as previous years yet we hope this trip; it's pictures and information will be worth tuning in once in a while. When you get a chance, let us know how we're doing and if you like it. We left "Hot and Humid" Florida on Friday August 23rd loaded to the seams. It's not like we never traveled before but it seems as long as there is space in our luggage; roof carrier or cargo area, we find something to put in it. On our first...

Aug 24, 2012 - F-16 Simulator

Hi everyone: Just a quick addition to our last entry. While at the National Air and Space Museum I got a huge treat - a three minute ride in an fully visual and 100% reactive F-16 Flight Simulator. ****** You start by getting a quick (very quick) briefing from the Simulator CFI then they harness you into the cockpit only after you remove everything from your pockets. Within seconds your flight begins by being catapaulted off of an aircraft carrier deck but fortunately you do not feel the G-forces. All you have to do is maintain level...

Aug 22, 2012 - On Our Way To The "Big Apple

Hi everyone: Due to the "overwhelming" number of e-mail and telephone requests from our long list of Journal Followers yours truly has enthusiastically begun this pictorial and recorded diary of our trip to Manhattan. For those of you who do not know, we have started in a new direction for our summer vacations. After five cross country trips, we pretty much have seen everything there is in the middle of the United States; the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Coast. With the exception of the "Largest Ball of Twine", we have seen it all. As...

Sep 8, 2010 - Leesburg, Virginia

9/8 – 9/11 It was a short 37 mile drive to Leesburg, Virginia where we stayed in the driveway of our friend Bernadette. We have known Bernadette since our youngest son Peter was a friend of her son Jed while they were in High School. Bernadette was a great host, providing us with a 5 star scallop dinner and putting up with a huge motorhome taking up most of her driveway. While in Leesburg: >Ken made his “not too annual” visit with his doctor. Dr. Fred says that Ken is still alive. >we visited with as many friends as we could fit in the time...

Oct 8, 2007 - Brunswick, MD to Leesburg, WV

(Elena Writing) We left Brunswick, MD after lunch and drove back to Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, WV. We parked at the Visitor Center and hiked the Murphy Farm Trail which is about a 2.2-mile loop through a Civil War battlefield. At the highest point of the trail we had a beautiful view of the Shenandoah River and valley. It was very warm today, almost too warm to be hiking. After the hike we drove southwest on H-340 to H-7 east to Leesburg, VA. We arrived late in the afternoon and are spending the night in the Wal*Mart parking lot.

Aug 3, 2005 - Washington D.C.
