Saturday Sunny and in the 50s Yesterday we drove into Irvington and visited the Steamboat Era Museum. This a well done small-medium size museum dedicated to the era of the steamboat in and around the Chesapeake. Because of its remote location and lack of infrastructure, the Northern Neck was served almost entirely by watercraft. First sailing vessels and then, from 1813 to 1937, the steamboat was the means of transportation for everything from foot passengers and freight to farm animals and floating theaters. Nov 17, 2012 - Reedville's Fishermen's Museum

On Thursday we moved down to our third VA state park - Belle Isle. This Park is much smaller than Lake Anna or Westmoreland but is in a beautiful setting on the SW corner of the Northern Neck, right on the Rappahannock River. As with Lake Anna, it has been recently updated with large, easy access sites, 30/50 amp service, nice restrooms and dump station.
