We were delighted to find Kiptopeke State Park campground has a very attractive layout - grassy sites, some on slightly raised knolls, some with shade trees. The campground is a 5-minute walk from the beaches of the Chesapeake Bay. An early morning walk to the beach along the Park's well kept trails was very tranquil. Sep 4, 2010 - Our Journey begins

Ended up in Labor Day weekend traffic on I-64 East, stop & go...2 1/2 hour trip to go 75 miles. But, the drive across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel reminded us of cruising to Cape Charles on the N Joy! Fantastic water views and sunny, breezy weather. After setting up at our camp site at Kiptopeke State Park, we joined our York River Yacht Club friends at Bay Creek Marina in Cape Charles for a lovely evening Happy Hour - sharing potluck and great stories - on the lounging deck on the end of the pier! Jul 12, 2009 - Chesapeake Bay

Sunday, July 12, 2009 Well, the day started off good and then went down hill a bit and end up ok. We left the Outer Banks and looked forward to Virginia and Virginia Beach. We treated ourselves to a pancake breakfast along the way. The weather is good, in the 80’s and the drive went well. We arrived at First Landing State Park, where we though we would like to stay. We could visit Norfolk and Virginia Beach. Although Virginia Beach look much like Myrtle Beach and a lot of others we have already driven through. We thought that being a Sunday...
