Apr 22, 2013 - Yogi Bears Jellystone Park

Answers to this weeks question continue to come in, remember deadline is tomorrow at 3EST. We have moved all of 24 miles yesterday it was a tough go but we made it lol. Laundry all done in preparation for the track on Wed. Bike out again today for a ride around the country side. People we met last nite around the fire pointed us to a peanut farm/store down the road a ways so off we went to it out. Place has been around for 300 yrs it was intersting, Of course we ended spending 60 bucks on assorted types of nuts in various flavors and...

Nov 6, 2010 - A Day In Emporia

Chilly and rainy through the night - guess we should just plan on sleeping with the slides closed so we don't have to get up in the middle of the night lol. What the heck happened to that 70 degree weather they were talking about a couple of days ago??? Not wanting to travel too far today cause we didn't want to miss the Boise State Broncos game (GO BIG BLUE), we spent the day exploring the area around Emporia, which was quite a hot spot during the Civil War. We stumbled upon a big, beautiful old home which turned out to be the Village View...

Nov 5, 2010 - Movin' On

Looks like I have some catching up to do. We had some intermittent internet connections, so I took a break from blogging. We left Connecticut on Tuesday morning and headed for an overnight stay at the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs (yep it's a casino alright) in Wilkes-Barre, PA. We're doubling back through Pennsylvania instead of going down the turnpike through New York. Don't think Dick's nerves could have stood that! After, once again, leaving my obligatory $40 in the casino, we moved on down the road on Wednesday to our new home in...

Temp 97 - 245 miles driven Tonight, we’re staying in a Yogi Bear Jellystone Park. It’s a family resort park. We’re parked not far from the swimming pool and it’s packed with kids - and some adults who should NOT be wearing bathing suit in public. How hot was the trip so far? Both yesterday and today, we drove with the generator running so we could run the house air conditioner.

Sep 20, 2008 - drivin' South

Wow, am I impressed! My ride was smooth and the floorboards under my feet didn't move at all, even over rough roads with all those rhythmic bumps! I now think the front body mounts weren't right when I bought Miss Daisy in April of 2005! I don't even want to think about the troubles I could have had these 3 years! The Good Lord has definitely been watching over me and keeping me safe more than I know! Since I traveled down I-88 through NY on Thursday, my good friends Chic & Marilyn met me at a parking lot off the exit to their house and...

Jellystone RV Park - We didn't really get very far today. We just can't decide what we want to do!! We both keep hem-hawing around, "what do you want to do? I don't know, what do YOU want to do?" This is rediculous! We've seen alot of back country the last few days. One of my observations: We see alot of mini graveyards in strange places. Along the road in the middle of nowhere or in the middle of a field of tobacco, etc. will be a little fenced-in plot with 2-3-4 or more headstones in it. So here we are in this nice RV park with a barking...

Oct 19, 2007 - To Emporia, Virginia

It was raining off and on this morning when it was time for us to leave, so we got a later start than usual. It rained on us until about Richmond. The farther south we drove on I-95, the clearer the sky became. However, the big front that has been moving east caught up with us around 5:00. We had to call several campgrounds before we found one with space for us. We were about to decide to boondock in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Finally we found room at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park in Emporia, Virginia. After we had rested a while, Barb and I...
