Tuesday, July 27 - Dick was supposed to help Mark with screening the rest of the patio but Mark couldn't get off work so we just hung out today & went out to say good-bye tonight. From this point forward, at least for awhile, I'm going to do this update weekly instead of daily. Monday, 7/12 - still in Erinburg, VA near Laurie. We went to Laurie's to do laundry today, stopped at WalMart & that was about it. Weather hot &, of course, humid. I walked for about an hour around town so got some good exercise as there are plenty of hills here in town. Still working on fianalizing new RV contract with Frank. Tuesday, 7/13 - Dick took Laurie to Winchester to the hospital for more tests. A brain MRI, chest scan & supposedly a...

We went out to Laurie's in the later afternoon & grilled burgers with them. Ryan had left for Boy Scout Camp that morning & Matthew, Laurie & Mark were in the pool when we arrived. She has a heck of a time getting in & out but enjoys it when she gets in there. And, of course, Matthew LOVES the pool but he loves the hot tub more so when they got out of the pool, he went in to the hot tub & would have stayed there for hours if they let him. They have 2 boxers -- Titan & Snickers so will post pics of them later. We'd love to take Murphy out to...

Aug 13, 2009 - Driving Home

Departing Edinburg on 8/11 it was evident my travel partner had toured enough for this trip so we picked up the pace traveling south on I-81 through western Virginia to the Tri Cities area of Tennessee where we departed I-81, taking 1-26 to Asheville, NC and then I-40 on to Waynesville, NC where we stopped overnight. Today was a long rainy drive but it will make the drive on to Dahlonega tomorrow very manageable. After arriving in Waynesville, the rains abated some but it remained overcast and was raining again on 8/12 as we departed for...

Aug 10, 2009 - The Accidental Tourists

This morning it is warm and muggy after a formidable thunderstorm last night around 8:00 PM. We had little wind, a lot of lightening and thunder and a torrential downpour lasting for about 30 minutes. We departed the Philadelphia area around 8:30 AM succumbing again to the toll roads. It cost us $6.00 to leave New Jersey and another $4.00 to get into Delaware. It seems they charge you to get on and get off on these toll roads, but today, we did not pay again to leave Delaware and did not hit another toll road on our travels today. I believe...

Apr 11, 2008 - Bristol, TN, to Edinburg, VA

Today we have returned to an "old friend" and it feels good. We found Creekside Campground quite by accident several years ago and immediately fell in love with the place. Located next to a large creek, hence the name, just off US/VA Route 11 and only about 2 miles off I-81, it is a small campground with a big heart. The owners & workers are very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home. This is our 5th visit here in the past two or three years, but it won't be our last.
