Aug 6, 2020 - Natural Tunnel State Park

There is a chair lift that you can ride up and down to the tunnel or you can walk a trail from the top to the tunnel. At the bottom is a natural tunnel that a creek had made a small tunnel of water threw the mountain over millions of years and back in the 1800's they enlarged the tunnel and ran train tracks in the tunnel to be able to haul coal from one place to another and not have to go over the mountain.

Jul 24, 2018 - Natural Tunnel State Park (7/20 - 7/23/18)

We have always heard of Natural Tunnel, but had never been here. It is southwestern Virginia in a very beautiful area. There are two separate camping areas in the park. We were in Cove View, site #16. Lover's Leap is the other section. Neither was full when we arrived and they emptied as time passed. It is a really pretty park with many great features. ...and for RELAXATION! Finished off a week of sightseeing in DC with a tour of the Capital and the Library of Congress...did you know that anybody in the world can get a library card for the LOC? If you can't find it there, it doesn't exist! Started our 3 1/2 hour RV trek back south for a short stay at Glen Maury RV Park in Buena Vista, VA.
