We had hoped that I-81 through the Shenandoah Valley would be scenic, but the rain limited our visibility. Someday we will have to try this again on a clear day. We planned our route to avoid traffic and big cities and have been successful. I-81 parallels the coast but is about 60 miles west of Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington DC. Updates to our trip journal have been difficult because we do not have internet service at the state park - or phone service either for that matter. The park is beautiful but...

Left VA Beach this morning. Traveled mostly state routes through Appomattox and Lexington, to overnight at the Buckhorne Country Store and Campground in Clifton Forge, VA. The Store was a very popular place with folks driving in from all around for some good ice cream. Needless to say, we had to try some, too!
