Aug 31, 2011 - Visit with Friends
On Monday we left Waynesboro and traveled about 130 miles to Virginia Highland Haven Airstream Park. This Airstream Park has long been on our list to visit and we are so glad with did. The purpose of this stop was to visit our long time friends, Bob and Peggy. We met them over 20 years ago when they lived in the Atlanta area. They have lived in Christiansburg for many years now and this is our first visit here to see them. Each year they visit St Simons Island, GA and we always spend a day or so with them then. So Tuesday we met up with...

Apr 12, 2011 - Preparing for departure
Cynthia and I previously spent 15 months traveling around the world and visited 15 countries. There is a link to our RTW trip on the homepage. Now we are between jobs and have decided to take off and go back to Turkey and Greece for 6 weeks. This trip was completely spontaneous and was decided based on watching a movie 10 days ago. The RTW trip took 3 years to plan for 15 months of travel and this time we had 5 days for the 6 weeks to Turkey. We've been very busy these last 5 days planning, researching, packing, and shopping. Fortunately,...

Mar 14, 2011 - Front Royal VA to Christiansburg VA
Well today started early we were up, hit the gym and had breakfast all before 9am but had only made it a kilometre down the road by 11am as we were checking out the main street in Front Royal. After the obligitory coffee in the local shop and a purchase of some upholstery fabric at a bargin price of $3US a metre (this being for a chaise lounge project we have at home), we hit the road to explore the Shenandoah National Park. The park extends south along the Appalachan Mountain range with the Shenandoah Valley on the western side. The...

Oct 10, 2010 - Sunday Oct. 10- Christiansburg VA
We took our time moving in the morning, leaving Bull Run around 10 AM. We continued west on I-66, then south on I-81 through scenic Virginia. As soon as we left the campground and started on Rt. 29 heading for I-66 we kept hearing a banging noise. I investigated and discovered that the latch on one of the cabinet doors in the bathroom had broken. There was no safe spot to stop, so we kept going until we reached the rest area on I-66, about 3 miles away. We did not have a new latch, so Bob used Velcro to keep the door closed. We stopped at...

Apr 20, 2008 - In Virginia
Hello from Virginia! Sorry that there are no photos yet, but we have been a little busy since we got here last week. The main focus is finding a home to buy! We are not tired of traveling so much as we feel that we need a base to go to when we are. And the market is right to buy at a good price so we don't have to dig too far into our retirement fund. So we have been running from small city to small city and looking at anything that sparks our interest. We certainly have seen some beautiful places and of course some that need a bit of TLC....
