Jul 24, 2017 - Day 7 Bethel to Middlebury 39 miles
For some reason I slept badly although no fault of the bed and read most of the night. B & B owners served us a nice breakfast and we hit the road in the rain by 7:30. I had brought our backpacking rain ponchos but on the bikes they flapped around a lot and we did not stay dry. The rain brought in a cold front - straight from Canada! When we were struggling on the uphills it was uncomfortable but tolerable. Stopped for hot tea in delightful little village of Rochester then started the biggest uphill of the trip up Middlebury Gap at 2200...Jump to full entry
Jul 1, 2010 - Enroute to the Rally
Thursday Our planned travel day to get up into Vermont and close the rally site at Essex Junction. We got up early and took our time with the last minute packing and getting ready to leave. Extra food and water for Emily the cat and turned off the hot water and coffee pot. We were on the road by 8:20. Bonnie and Alexus had walked out the driveway to mail a letter and were lucky enough to find some of the first ripe raspberries of the year. Aug 27, 2006 - The times, they are a-changing.
Our last stop before we head back to Hanover. I guess it was a good thing we were in Boston for four days, so we could delay the inevitable as long as possible. Both events we took part in were for kids, which was great. In our first event, we set up with the recycling station in the Boston Children's Museum. We talked to kids and families, and got to have fun blowing bubbles in the museum. For the second event, most of the group went to the Ecotarium in Worcester.
