Yesterday we went to the Apple Festival in South Hero, VT. South Hero is one of the small islands in Lake Champlain, between Vermont and New York's upper region. The Apple Festival is a unique small town festival that has over 100,000 visitors each year. They call the islands the Apple Islands due to all the apple orchards, and there lies the perfect setting for the festival. Oct 10, 2009 - Still Raining in Vermont!

Yesterday, we spent much of the day driving around rural Vermont--Hwy 7 south, then taking some smaller highways (more like our county roads) across the Green Mountain National Forest to Hwy 100 (known as a very scenic road for leaf peepers), and south to Weston, VT. We spent much of our scenic viewing trying to dodge rain drops (aka "rain storms") and tourist buses. As I've mentioned previously, this is the busiest weekend of the year here, between leaf peers like myself and Columbus Day Weekend (the Canadian Thanksgiving). We set out...

Oct 8, 2009 - Headed to Vermont (and a little more Lake Placid)

Just as I thought we were leaving the Adirondacks, I just had to go to one more location outside Lake Placid....the Bobsled and Luge Training Center. When I arrived (and after I paid my entry fee), a terrible rainstorm with 35 mph winds arrived. I had only been able to see a couple of training runs, when I started walking back to the motor home to get warm. But you know me..I had to sneak a peek in behind a curtained area one more time.
