Sep 11, 2013 - to Bomoseen, VT; 20/271

130911-Wed-74881-We drove 312 miles today. We finished up New York and drove into Vermont. We drove up route 7, thru Bennington VT, to I4, then west to Castle Corners and north to Bomoseen VT, to the KOA on Vermont’s biggest lake, which we can’t see from our campground. Boy it is pretty country, but it is now 97 at 5pm. We have had the air on all day and it is 82 in. Again, not bad for driving all day. We got 7.3 mpg which isn’t bad for running the generator all day. In Bennington, which is a very pretty town with a World War I oblisque,...

Jun 30, 2009 - More Thunder and Rain

We spent our last day in Bomoseen in camp. This morning, it was bright and sunny and the outside temp gauge said it was 120 degrees! Yikes! I finally had to turn on the AC and close all of the blinds. The weather guessers were predicting more thunderstorms this afternoon, and sure enough, before noon, the clouds started to gather. By evening, we could hear the thunder in the distance and once again, it just poured. -- We have been very disappointed with this campground. It is in a quiet location and there aren't a lot of people on the side...

Pretty Damn Nice!

Jun 28, 2009 - Into Vermont

We were back to cloudy skies with a little more humidity this morning, and thunderstorms are predicted for later this afternoon. We decided to get an early start since today was a travel day. The kids took to their usual hiding spots under the bedspread as John and I put things away and packed up Suzi and hooked up Suki. When it came time to check the lights, John went to turn on Suzi's engine and . . . nothing. What the heck!!! We had one other time when we were in Texas when she wouldn't start and the handy-dandy RV guy in the park found...

Oct 12, 2008 - Missing Canada

Missing Canada No matter how fine the scenery - it’s the people who make a place - Sunday, October 12 We spent today just driving around in Vermont’s Green Mountains. By any standard the scenery is stunning, and around every curve in the road stands a picture postcard image. An old white church shaded by a golden oak. A solitary well kept farm, with its small cornfield now harvested and cut down to stubble. Hilltop after hilltop of hardwood forest in various shades of dress - some yellow and orange and red, and some already barren of...

Aug 16, 2007 - Lake Bomoseen, VT

Aug. 16, 2007 We return to Castleton, VT. and have a site at the Lake Bomoseen Campground. I am familiar with this area but not aware of what type of campground this is. We manage to navigate some very tight campground roads to find our site. The site is very near Rt. 30 with lots of road noise. We are here in Castleton, VT. to attend Kehoe Day at the Kehoe Conservation Camp. This is the grand closing of the camp season and this includes a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new building at Camp Kehoe. Gov. Douglas, FW Comm. LaRouche, the ANR...
