Jun 12, 2015 - Sundance, UT.

Provo is set in a Valley surrounded by large green mountains. It a beautiful city. We started the day by stopping at a art and crafts fair in Springdale (suburb of Provo). We walked around and checked out the items for sale and eventually found some street food to snack on. We took a drive through Provo to visit Sundance. Most of the day was spent at Sundance Mountain Resort. The drive there is gorgeous. The road to Sundance is a winding hill climbing drive. The Resort has restaurants, convention center, screening rooms, creeks and...

Jul 9, 2014 - Trip to Memorial Hill in Midway, UT

Here we are again. Today we decided to make a short side trip. There is a hill in Midway with lots of flags on the hill and we decided to find out what is up there. First on the agenda was to go into Heber City so that Merry could get her nails done. While there I snapped a couple of photos of Main street. It's less than 20 blocks long and mostly just a few small shops, a couple of old movie theaters, Smiths Grocery store, an Ace Hardware and few other miscellaneous shops and offices. No real shopping to speak of. Walmart is out on the...

Jul 6, 2014 - July 4 come and gone

Well, we have managed to survive the 4th of July weekend. It has been crazy. In addition to all the campers, including golfers, family reunions, kids, atvs, boats and all other sort of off road vehicle, and last but not the least, HEAT. July 4th, we registered 101 degrees, July 5th - 107. It cooled down today. Only 106. All this in a place which is supposed to be in the mid 80's. According to one of the other camp hosts, who is a local, last year there were only 5 days above 90. Poor Parker does not understand why it is so hot. He wants to...

Jun 22, 2014 - More of Wasatch Mountain State Park

Well, we have been here just about a month now. It has been a busy time. We work Friday thru Tuesday. Sundays are the worst, everyone is heading home and we have a ton of campsites to clean. We have all sorts of wild life here. Lots of chipmonk, ground squirrels, red squirrels, many different types of birds. There has been a cougar sighting very close to the campground. Smelled a few skunks. Quite a few deer. We have raccoons, which are not really welcome. On the 16th, it began to really rain and got quite cold. When I got up the next...

May 19, 2014 - Park City, Ut

Wasatch Mountain State Park is one of 43 Utah State Parks. It is located in the Northwest corner of Midway. Midway was settled in 1858, but a large immigration of Swiss families arrived in the late 1860s leading to the Swiss influence in architecture that is outstanding. There are many huge homes in the area, some of which are 2nd homes. A lot of money here. The park is spread over 23,000 acres and consists of 2 golf courses, 3 group area, cabins, a retreat and various campgrounds, one of which is 14 miles from us. There are lots of ATV and...

May 10, 2011 - A great campsite

Seems we’re not done with Utah yet. After leaving Rangely, Colorado, we ended up at Wasatch Mountain State Park. As Don explained earlier, we stayed here longer than planned due to roads still not completely cleared at Red Rock RV in Idaho. I didn’t mind a bit, as this gave us quite a few days to “kick back” and relax. This state park is located in beautiful Heber Valley surrounded by the Wasatch Mountains with Midway City and Heber City nearby. We stayed in the Cottonwood Campground, and due to a computer error we actually had what I...

May 9, 2011 - Change of plans

I just spoke with one of the owners of Red Rock RV Park outside of the west entrance of Yellowstone, which is where we are supposed to be on Thursday. Looks like we will be delayed a few days, though, because of snow limiting access to the campground. So for now we plan to stay in the Wasatch Mountain State Park campground near Midway, Utah thru Wednesday. On Thursday we will be moving to the County Fairgrounds campground in Pocatello, Idaho for a couple days while we have a new set of tires installed on the truck. Then weather permitting,...
