En route from Bryce Canyon National Park to Arches National Park we spent 2 days at a pleasant small state park on the shore of Palisade Lake near Sterling, Utah. The afternoon we arrived the temperature was mild (high 60's), sun shining, and winds light. In other words, it was a pleasant afternoon for setting out the folding chairs, enjoying the view across the lake, and being lazy! Overnight, though, that all changed. Aug 28, 2008 - Bryce N.P. to Palisade S.P.
Tuesday August 26, 2008 It seemed to take us an inordinate amount of time to pack for a day hike. I guess we’re out of practice. But by late morning we were parking at the Navajo Trailhead at Bryce Canyon N. P. This unique area of red rock spires (hoodos) is quite spectacular as the photos show . The trail is “moderate difficulty” and goes down into the hoodoos looping around 1.3 miles before cresting the top again.
