May 5, 2013 - Great day of travel.

/// East Bay RV Park Springville, UT May 5, 2013 // Yesterday, May 4th, was a beautiful day in Saint George, UT. A huge crowd was expected for the an Iron-Man Event. We stayed home. With no water restrictions here I took the opportunity to wash the FORD F-350 SUPER DUTY. Nearly seven years old and still looking pretty sharp. // Sunday – May 5 We packed up and departed Saint George by 8:15 AM. There is a substantial climb out of Dixieland on I-15 north to Cedar City but the FORD F-350 pulled the grade without issue, climbing to a high...

Jul 26, 2012 - Springville, UT

East Bay RV Park. Back to same campground where we started. Still couldn't get directions to come up on GPS. Long day today. Roads here in Salt Lake are almost worse than those on the AK Hwy - pretty rough and alot of traffic. Big dose of reality. Out to eat for steak tonight to celebrate end of trip (big deal - Texas Roadhouse). Temp hit 103 on the truck today. On to Grand Junction tomorrow.

/// East Bay RV Park Springville, UT April 18, 2012 A Travel Day: This morning we were packed up and on the road by 8:15 A.M. Our destination: Springville, UT. A distance of 245 miles. We traveled north on I-15. The road conditions today were okay with the minor exception of a few miles of rough road surface in the vicinity of Cedar City. Traffic was light and the weather was perfect for driving with a light overcast, cool temperatures and best of all – no wind. We made just two stops. Once to kick the tires and another for our lunch break....

Nov 7, 2010 - Springville, Utah

I have noticed that daylight is coming at an earlier time here. It did not get daylight until about 8:30 in Edmonton but here it is light about 8am. Therefore I hoped to get an early start today but again I was delayed by the weather. I can’t shut the heater off in the trailer until the temperature gets above freezing. Another one hour delay. We drove all day today along the western side of the mountains from Idaho into Utah. We passed the Great Salt Lake and Salt Lake City. The traffic through the city was bad but not as bad as usual...

Jun 12, 2010 - Bryce Canyon Area

Bryce Canyon KOA Wednesday June 9, 2010 After leaving Kanab we stayed on Utah 89 North toward Bryce Canyon Park. Last year an out of control “controlled burn” kept us from entering the park because of the smoke. This year we missed it due to smoke again but a different circumstance. The Bryce Canyon KOA is actually closer to Glendale, UT than Bryce Canyon Park. The KOA looked appealing from the road so we pulled in and got a space for two nights. There were lots of tall shade trees, a creek with trout, horses right near our camp site and...

Sep 29, 2009 - Stop Over In Springville, UT.

On our way to Moab,UT. we stoped for a two night layover in Springville (we camped at the East Bay RV Park). We had heard that a storm was going to be hitting the area, so rather than be on the road, we'd sit it out. Well it was a storm alright, wind, snow flurries, brief hail & rain that was accompianed by some thunder & lightning. We did get out to hit the local Wal-Mart for supplies, but for the most part we were shut-ins (keeping dry & warm).

We are Springville, UT today. We arrived her yesterday from Moab, UT. We are staying at East Bay RV Park just off I15. We going into Provo today. Our son Chris has been here and told us how beautiful this place is so we are going to check it out. The ride into Springville was beautiful. The leaves are turning and on the mountains it is just this beautiful red color. The aspens are turning gold. As we go further north I hope we see more color.

Aug 26, 2009 - More to see than just a salty ol' lake

We made reservations at an RV park in Springville, Utah, but could not get in there until August 27, so for the night of the 26th, we were parked in America's favorite dry-camping spot, the local Walmart parking lot. On the 27th, we settled in at the East Bay RV Park in Springville, Utah for a 30-day stay. Our original plan was to stay here for 15 days, however, as our next destination is southern Utah where the temperatures have been around the 100 degree mark, and as summer seems to be lingering, we decided to stay another 15 days in...

Jun 22, 2009 - Ely, Nev., to Springville, Utah

After a cold night camping in Ely, Nev., we headed this morning to Great Basin National Park. Because of its remote location at the center/far east part of Nevada, it is one of the least-visited national parks in the country. But its admission is free! The park’s top attractions are the Lehman Caves. We got to the park around 10:30 a.m., hoping to get on a tour without a reservation. The first available tours were at noon or 1. We chose the 1 p.m. tour because it was longer and more detailed. When we were deciding which tour, Brock asked...

Apr 15, 2009 - Springville, UT - East Bay RV Park

/// Wednesday - April 15, 2009 Happy Tax Day :( The wind blew hard most all night. I recorded a high gust of 31 mph with average winds in the high teens and low twenties. Nancy said she didn't get much sleep. It was still blowing hard when we got up and started our departure routine. Even fighting the wind we managed to get hitched up earlier than expected and we were on the road by 8:00 A.M. As we cleared Moab we could really see the effects of the blowing dust. Combine that with the overcast skies and there was an eerie gray/brown hue to...

Apr 15, 2008 - Springville, Utah

Today I continued west across southern Utah and then turned north on I15. Back on the same highway that I used to come south in November. Just outside of Green River I saw a sign that said no towns or gas stations for the next 106 miles. This is the longest stretch of land I have ever seen on a major freeway with no human habitation or services. I continue to see amazing things. This is what I like about travel. Shortly after leaving Green River, I came to the San Rafael Desert and the San Rafael Reef. The desert is small of not of...
