Oct 29, 2017 - Drive to Springville, Utah

October 29 – Drive to Springville, Utah We drove on many long, straight, flat roads today without issues. We were the only ones using the highways. The yellow leaves are beautiful here in Springville, south of Salt Lake City. To further prepare for a cold 16F night in Laramie, we put RV antifreeze in the gray and black tanks and used both the gray and the black pumps to fill the pumps with the pink fluid. We will dump our fresh water tank when the ambient temperature is below 32F either on the way to Laramie or when we arrive at Laramie. We...

Sep 27, 2017 - Taking a Short Drive

We decided after two days of cabin fever (due to two days of pretty much a steady rain), taking a short ride was the order of the day. We just pointed the truck where ever we felt like going. The temps at night have been down in the mid 40's to the low 30's, so the mountains towering close by have been dusted with snow & the leaves are showing their autumn colors..getting to be quite beautiful.

On Friday we left Brigham City in our rear view mirror & now we have taken up a weeks residence in Springville, Utah. We're just hanging out & we'll see what kind of trouble we can get into here...lol. I am including 3 pictures of a truck at a Ford dealership in Brigham City... its pretty wild, (Pete took the photos).

Jun 3, 2017 - Leadville, Co to Springville, UT

June 3, 2017 Another beautiful morning but a bit brisk, low 40’s. Josh recognized a transmission problem when we checked into the camp ground so we agreed that we would wait for them to leave before we did on outr departure.. Initially he could not get the truck in gear but after 10 minutes he was able to move forward. Whew!! Not sure if the high altitude was the problem or what. The camp dumping station was supposed to be open but not so. We parted company with Josh and Melissa with us heading north on Hwy 24 towards Vail. What a grand...

Sep 15, 2016 - Trip to Springville, Utah

On Tuesday the 13th, we left Hamilton for Springville, Utah. We traveled 524 miles to get here, but we just didn't feel like stopping anywhere along the way. When we left it was 29 degrees & there was frost on the truck....boy was it cold ! Saw some nice views along the way, on Hwy 28 we came upon a cattle drive (not the fist time for us to see one on the road). Although this time the cowboys/cowgirls moved them off the road before we got to them. But let me tell you, there was plenty of cow pies on the road, yup it was on the trailer steps...

Sep 9, 2016 - Day 75 Springville

Day 75 East Bay RV Park. Getting hotter. I would rather take a beating than drive thru SLC! Yuck. Talked to a guy this AM in Pocatello. He was parked next to us in a huge motor home. They are from Calif but had S Dakota plates. He said they flew into S Dakota (I don't know where) and spent the night at a motel. The next day he took his motel receipt to the DMV and got a lisence plate saved him a couple thousand in taxes. He had to get a post office box and they gave himself a SDakota drivers license.Things you learn! Tomorrow is home.

Alaska...Again 2016

Sep 20, 2015 - Bryce Canyon National Park, Here we Come

On Sept.16 we left Estes Park, we decided to make a repeat visit to Bryce Canyon. The last time we visited the park was in 2009. During that visit the weather so cold,,,so cold that we did not take any hikes. We pretty much did one of those ....jump out of the truck, snap our pictures & jump back into the warmth of the truck. This time we intended to hike among the Hoo-Doos. We traveled to Springville, Utah the first night, but getting there was interesting. As we drove through Wyoming we hit heavy winds (wind gust of 50 MPH +), we also...

May 22, 2015 - Bridal Veil Falls

This morning we broke out our jackets, jumped in the truck & drove up Hwy 189 into Provo Canyon. As we got into the Canyon the rain started to come down & the temperature dropped into the low 40's. But it didn't stop us, we took some photos through the rain spotted windshield (so they are not the best). Bridal Veil Falls is a double cataract waterfall which drops 607 feet to the Provo River, it can be viewed easily from Highway 189. There is a pull off, so you can take your time to view the falls, or you can hike to its base. We did not...

May 21, 2015 - Travel to Springville/Provo Utah

Another day of travel & we're off to Springville/Provo, Utah. We decided to get ourselves into an RV Park (the KOA East Bay Park), we're sitting out the busy Memorial Day Week-end. Do not want to be on the road with all the road warriors. We think there must be some kind of Airstream gathering here or something.....lots of them here in the park. We traveled all the way here on Interstate-15, traffic was not bad...the weather could have been a little better. We sure have driven in our share of rain storms since leaving Picacho, we should...

Oct 14, 2014 - Springville, UT - Wrapping Up a Short Stay in Salt Lake Valley

(Ron Writing) We’ve spent the past few days in the Salt Lake Valley. We’ve visited this area a couple times before and have seen the sights we wanted to see but this time we mostly needed to take care of some business and relax a little from our long drives of the past several days. On Friday, October 10, I had my monthly pre-arranged infusion at a small hospital in Sandy, UT. The staff at this hospital really had their act together and everything went very smoothly. We got out of there around noon and then made a stop at Camping World to...

Oct 10, 2014 - Springville, Utah

We had a short but tedious drive today, slightly over 200 miles. We enriched the economy in McCammon, ID and filled up with diesel at Flying J. Most of the journey was uneventful and relaxing with good roads and little traffic. We took a couple of breaks and stopped for lunch near Brigham City, UT. Then, we hit Salt Lake City, road construction and heavy traffic was the order of the day. But, everything kept moving and all the drivers behaved for the most part. We were ready to stop when we got just a little south of Provo in Springville....
