Jun 16, 2010 - A Day at Arches National Park

There is only word to describe today - MAJESTIC. We traveled a short distance to the Canyon lands in Utah and drove through amazing red rocks and mountains. Pictures simply do not do it justice. The scenery is unlike anything we have ever seen. We will definitely be back to this area. We made it to Arches by mid-morning. The winds were going to be as high as 30 mph by late afternoon so we wanted to do our hikes before then. It was warm and sunny, and windy. We didn't get to hike as much as we would have liked because the winds were kicking...

May 31, 2010 - Richfield, UT

We spent a great holiday weekend with Pat and Paul and mother Rose. Pat and I managed to sneak off for some girl time shopping - which means we didn't buy anything; we just looked to our hearts' desire. Men don't seem to understand that shopping doesn't mean buying. We watched movies in the evenings, ate popcorn and had a couple of grilled dinners. Then last night, we enjoyed a camp fire with smores with their daughter Amy and her husband Alan, and Alan's brother Mark. This morning, we said goodbye to these dear people. Their home was so...

Pretty Damn Nice!

Sep 2, 2009 - No smoke without fire

Forest fires were raging all over this part of the country and as we made our way south it became clear that we were driving towards one. As we drew closer I remarked to Jo that the road would probably take us pretty close but that was an understatement. The road cut right through the middle of it. The fire was on both sides of the road and we had to drive through smoke which reduced visibility to just a few feet at times but Jo managed to get a few snapshots.

May 6, 2009 - Sego Canyon

North of Moab, I am heading for Thompson Springs, an obscure exit off the I-70, with a last chance Texaco, a rusted yellow school bus on its axles, and a derelict hotel which was probably a lively destination a hundred years ago. (I wish I could get inside to talk with the ghosts.) But I am here to see the ancient glyphs at Sego Canyon, about two miles up a narrow road. As soon as I am parked, another car pulls in, and out pop Lucy & Cliff Allen, an English couple, who live in western Scotland and are touring in the USA. It was such a...

Dale's Trail 2009

Mar 22, 2009 - Richfield, UT

/// Sunday - March 22, 2009 We had an overnight low temperature of 52 degrees. The weather forecast is predicting rain showers (or snow showers) and very windy conditions. When we left Hurricane, UT the skies were clear and there was no wind. A short ways north on I-15 we started to pick up some wind. When we made our first rest stop I was surprised how hard the wind was blowing. Fortunately for us - it was a tail wind. At times the dust was blowing and tumble weed or sage brush was blowing in the road. The rest of today's travel was...

Nov 9, 2008 - On route to Cannonville, Utah

We travelled from Moab to Cannonville near Bryce Canyon. Part of the journey was on Interstate 70 which took us through another part of the San Rafeel Desert and crossed over the Waterpocket Fold. We stopped at one or two of the overlooks to enjoy the panoramic views surrounding us. We also drove through areas of badlands with their different coloured layers of rock.

May 17, 2008 - Richfield, Utah KOA

Saturday, May 17th, still from the Richfield, Utah KOA we got up, we re-read all the troubleshooting stuff, AGAIN, and still nothing worked. I looked on Google for Atwood Water Heaters and naturally they are closed today, but I called and left a message. All of the things I researched on the RV forums, seemed to lead us to believe that it had to be an electrical thing and nothing we could re-set or replace ourselves. Randy looked at the advertisements in the KOA info sheet they give you when you check in, and saw a place advertising 24-7...

Apr 26, 2008 - Richfield R & R

We decided we needed a couple of days of R&R, so we traveled about half way between Moab area and Salt Lake City area and stopped in Richfield, which just happens to be up the road about 10 miles from a natural hot mineral springs. So ... a couple of days of R&R with no sightseeing schedule and a nice afternoon soak in hot springs, and the rejunenation factor was successful. Along the way here, we saw some more great southern Utah sights we have shared in the pics.

Apr 5, 2008 - Day 1 of return trip/Jour 1 du retour

Day 1 of the return trip, Sat, Apr 5/Jour 1 du retour, samedi 05 avril We got a late start from Las Vegas on Saturday April 5 and started out on our trek toward Elkhart Indiana where we need to stop at the Holiday Rambler factory service center so that they can make a few minor modifications required to meet Canadian standards. We made it to Richfield, Utah. This was a very mountainous region and at one point we reached an altitude of 6,180 ft. With the new rig we hardly noticed the climbs. With the 325hp turbo-diesel engine and the...

Arrived in hot Utah today! We can't believe it is July 1st already! We're staying in Richfield UT, about 15 minutes from where Ssrah is to pickup the Maggie on Monday. Aug 31, 2006 - Salina

We left Moab and drove to, the Capitol Reef National Park. We've been spoilt with all the scenery we've visited lately and Capitol Reef didn't hold much interest for us, so we basically drove straight through, we ended up in Salina, we're having two nights here and then moving on to Salt Lake City.
