Another day, another cloudless sky, with temperatures expected in the 90's. But at 10% humidity that's comfortable. So it's a glorious day to tour Lake Powell and visit Rainbow Bridge National Monument. Rainbow Bridge was declared a national monument by President William Taft in 1910 based solely on a photo and description by explorer John Wetherill so it could be protected for the American people. May 1, 2010 - RAINBOW BRIDGE
Gene, Cyndy and Aunt Cheryl headed to Rainbow National Monument on the chase boat to do some pre-trip scouting for the True GRIT. It was a beautiful trip up, lots of awesome scenery with beautiful canyons on Lake Powell. Navajo Mountain top was covered with snow and made a spectacular backdrop for Rainbow Bridge. It is the 100 year anniversary of Rainbow National Monument! WE had a fun trip back with lots of choppy water which Aunt Cheryl enjoyed more than Cyndy...........she is quite the trooper.
