Sep 16, 2012 - Circle L MHC & RV, Layton

Sunday-9/16- Circle L MHC & RV, Layton This is a nice mobile home/rv park we stayed at for a week. We visited Antelope Island State Park--an island on the Great Salt Lake. Besides the lake, we saw more buffalo, coyotes and pronghorn. It was a great drive to the see the lake. We also visited the Temple Square area in downtown Salt Lake City, but mostly we enjoyed being at a town where in 10 minutes we could be at any store or restaurant we chose. Our computer crashed and we found a computer repair shop a mile down the road that had it fixed...

Sep 6, 2010 - Hill Air Force Base Utah

Our week stay here was excellent. The FamCamp is in a great location, we could walk to the playground, waterpark (see pictures), gym and running track! Jack definitely enjoyed staying here …. the playground, waterpark & soccer fields always had kids in them. One day ~10 preschool kids were there for hours. One night a group/unit had an office function at the park with a “bouncy house”. Jack played in that house for 1.5 hours after dinner! An added bonus, the activity at the flight line. We saw B-2s, F-16s, T-38 and an A-10. We did some...

Jun 23, 2010 - One Wrong Turn

We decided to head out of Montana today. Our original plans were to head home through Cody, go to the rodeo there and stop at Thermopolis. However, we decided spur of the moment to go to Las Vegas instead. We love it there. Jackie said I could just tell everyone that he's not too good with directions and he made a wrong turn and we ended up in Vegas. But not tonight. We are staying in Layton, Utah, at a Wal-Mart and off tomorrow to finish the trip to Vegas.

Aug 9, 2009 - Layton, Utah - Cindy's destination for 3 weeks

We had a cool night to sleep in Vermal, UT. Temps got into the 50's. Cindy is bummed out since this is her last night "on the road in Big D". We are going to make it to Cindy's destination in Layton, Utah on Sunday afternoon for hotel check-in, etc. Ed has laundry duty on Monday and planning his trip back East. Today's trip was a little less than 200 miles and we took Route 40 all the way into Salt Lake City and up I-15 to the Hotel. We drove through about 190 miles of beautiful, desolate lands. Most of it is an Indian Reservation with very...

May 8, 2008 - Arches National Park & THE GREAT ESCAPE

Wednesday 5/7/2008: I took a 5 hour land trip through Arches National Park, Moab, UT and it was a memorable AWSOME visual experience. From the entrance it is a 20 mile one way drive through the park. A great visual experience with so many different colors, shapes, sights and sounds – rather the lack of sound in some places. In order to see some of the arch formations you have to do some hiking through the desert. I had planned to visit Canyon Land National Park nearby, but when I checked my time it was after 3:00 PM and not enough time for...

Apr 28, 2008 - Hill Air Force Base, Utah

Hill Air Forse Base ... Layton/Ogden Utah. This is a Déjà vu trip for Bob. It almost seems like "home". From 1995 thru 2001, Bob was an Air Force Reserve Chaplain attached here at Hill AFB. Lots of memories of a good time of service to the Air Force ... and a few "retired" friends and civilian workers still involved here at the base. We will be here for several days, enjoying the sights of north central Utah ... mountains, hot springs, etc. By the way, for those of you who wondered why we skipped some pretty significant national parks,...
