May 17, 2016 - Zion National Park to Kanarraville, Utah

Zion National Park is our favorite of the 4 national parks we visited in Utah. We drove the .3 of a mile or so from our RV park to the entrance to Zion. As soon as we were in the park, the paved roads were red, matching the beautiful rocks and formations. The first big rock formation that we stopped to view, was the Checkerboard Mesa, as it had lines going vertically and horizontally resembling a huge checker board. We stopped several times along the way to take pictures. We went through 2 short tunnels through the rock and then came upon a...

May 22, 2012 - Kanarraville, UT

We moved back south a few miles to Kanarraville. It is a quiet little town - in fact the only business in town is an auto repair shop. No convenience store, no "downtown" shopping mecca - only a post office and a fire department that share the same building. Oh, there is a town hall and a huge LDS church. Well, duh! This is Utah! We are pretty close to Kolob Canyon which is the northern part of Zion National Park. Our plans are to visit there one day. Also, there is some hiking here in the area - some BLM Land.

May 20, 2012 - Zion National Park and Solar Eclipse

Left camp about 8:30 am to see Zion National Park. First stop was Zion Kolob. We stopped at the visitor center and got the National Park Passport stamp and a few postcards. We drove the scenic drive up to the end and then walked about a mile on a short trail. Jay and I could both tell that we were at a higher elevation than we were used to being. Then we headed south to Zion National Park it was about 30 miles further south than we were at Kolob. There we found a parking spot and rode the shuttle to the end and got out and walked to the...

May 19, 2012 - Made it to Utah

Chuck stopped before we left this morning to pick up the fresh grapefruit I had brought for him and forgot to take to his house and a bottle of wine. We said our good byes and we were on the road about 10am. We followed I-15 Northeast. Just before we hit AZ we stopped in Mesquite, NV to have lunch at the Casa Blanca Casino Resort. We went into the casino and looked for the $7.99 lunch buffet. Must have been one of the other casinos because this one didn't open until 2pm. Well, I couldn't leave without playing at least a little bit. SO we...

Jul 1, 2008 - Leg 2, Kanarraville, UT.

Arrived in Kanarraville, UT. @ High Noon. Temp a little cooler, 99F. This was a one night stand. The reservations were for a drive-thru so no Towed disconnect was to be req'd. However, the RV Park had only one drive-thru space, and the last person had problems so could not leave before we arrived. We had to disconnect the Towed, give up our 50 Amp hook-up, and squeeze into a tiny space,(see pics). Marilyn made the best of it by kicking back in the hammock. It was a pretty spot, with a population of 300, very little noise. Cooled off at...
