Kanab, Utah Today we left Grants, New Mexico and had the first several hours of freeway driving. The land is flat with the exception of a few mesquite like bushes without much vegetation. Rhonda spotted some land between the Winslow, Arizona and the New Mexico border for sale. You could buy as much as you wanted for only $400 per acre. It was tempting to buy, but the only people who would actually see any value from it would be our grandchildren. I think it would take that long for it to appreciate to something more than the original $400....

Vermillion Cliffs, Coral Pink Sand Dunes: June 26-28, 2005 When we left Lake Powell, we had originally intended to go to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. However, the fire burning in this area had worsened and the North Rim park facilities and roads were closed. Instead, we ended up seeing some other grand scenery in the southwest corner of Utah. Here are some shots of the Vermillion Cliffs in Paria Canyon and the Toadstool formations on the southern side of the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. A bit further, west, we stopped...
