May 21, 2010 - Day 31 Monument Valley Camp

today started out great, we were on track doing what we had planned and had our plans set until we left natural bridges NP and decided to take a short cut which included a stretch of unpaved/gravel road and a huge drop into the monument valley floor coming down a mountain with many 10% grade switch backs a 3000' drop. (now this is the kind of roads that JJ just loves to be on....) no guard rails and two cars just barely make it passing... check our these photos AND this is where our troubles began... we ran smack dab into a huge wind and...

Aug 11, 2008 - Moab to Goulding

This morning we woke up to see the sunrise at Dead Horse State Park. It was beautiful! To start the morning off Joey, Gavin, Teagan and I walked to the point (a 2 1/2 mile walk along the rim). Jun 2, 2007 - Gouldings RV park in Utah

Arrived at Gouldings Utah around 1:30pm after a 130 miles or so through the desolate desert area. Took a few pics of the area shortly after we arrived. We went for a little 10 mile drive into the surrounding area following signs to an Indian trading post but it must have closed down sometime in the past. We returned to Gouldings area and went to a museum, visited their trading post, watched a 15 minute slide show called Earth Spirit, and ate at their restaurant. We have signed up for a 3 and half hour tour of the surrounding area for...

Aug 27, 2006 - Monument Valley

We arrived in Kayenta, it's the closest town (20 miles away) to Monument Valley, which has hotels. We drove down the road, which runs along the outskirts, to get some photos, as the entrance to the monuments was closed. In the morning, we drove to the entrance, paid the entrance fee and drove down the road into the heart of Monument Valley, the road if you can call it that is horrendous, a combination of: sand, gravel, rocks and massive dips and holes. If you visit there, go in a 4x4. Monument Valley has been in loads of films, Back to the...
