Jun 25, 2019 - Firefighters Memorial Campground (6/23 - 6/26/19)
It was a relatively easy drive over. Tim drove the RV and I drove the Jeep to keep the extra drag off the RV. It took us less than an hour this time. It is such a lovely drive. We were able to get the site we wanted, #83. There had been quite a few people here but it was Sunday and they all eventually left. After we got set up we took a drive out into the backwoods on Deep Creek Road. At the bottom was Deep Creek Campground. What a lovely place to camp right on Deep Creek. From many spots on the drive we could see the Uinta Mountains. There...Jump to full entry
Jul 6, 2014 - Carbondale CO
I've been remiss on keeping this journal up to date! So much has happened on our "vacation from retirement" days! We spent several days with my sister, Rebekah, in Craig, CO, so I got to celebrate my birthday with her and Jeff. She made the Hellen Ready cake you see in the picture above. Delicious! We spent the next two weeks at the Ridgway State Park. While there we dropped the doggie at day care (4 days!) and off we went to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival! Even without tickets we got to see fantastic talent. We now love Sara Watkins who...Jump to full entry
Jun 5, 2014 - Last day here at Dripping Springs Campground.
We've been here 6 days and we leave tomorrow to go to Craig, CO, to see my big sister, Rebekah, and to celebrate my birthday! I'm so sad! I'm rapidly leaving my youthful days behind! Retirement days are heavenly though! Jeff has run almost every day we've been here. He was gone fishing so long yesterday I composed him a song, 'Won't you come home, Jeff Allen?' using the tune from, 'Won't you come home Bill Bailey?' It was quite a moving song and I got to use my UKE! He caught two fish today and yesterday. The cubic feet per second of...Jump to full entry
Jun 3, 2014 - Walking Mercies!
We arrived here at the Dripping Springs Campground Saturday, May 31. We have burnt trees dotting the landscape all around us but we're nestled in the rolling hills and have very minimal neighbors! It's wonderful! Jeff found where he wants to fish...below the dam, so that's where he is today. Yesterday he ran 31/2 miles down to Little Hole (further down the River from here) and Gracie and I walked to meet him on his way back. The picture of the snake cleverly tucked by the roadside tells you why we'll be extra careful from now on on our walks!Jump to full entry
