May 23, 2009 - Great Basin Museum

My daughter Kristina and her family arrived from Salt Lake for a short visit. We had made plans to go and see The Great Basin Museum after lunch. It is the anniversary this weekend for the museum with lots of activities planned. Destiney and Kyrie immediatly found something to do. They learned how to search for dinosaur bones, found that they do have the ability to crochet, helped to make homemade scones. They were so busy they made me tired! It was late when we returned to the RV, so we quickley made tacos for dinner with ice cream for...

May 22, 2009 - Weekend trip with the girls

Before we started our big official cross country journey, we decided to take Jonathan's daughters, Destiney Mae and Kyrie, on a weekend trip to see my Mom and Grandma. They were currently camping in Delta, Utah and we were coming from the Salt Lake City area. It was an easy car ride, esspecially since we got to listen to the sultry sounds of Kungfu Panda floating forwards from the back seat. Every so often Destiney would peep up to let us know she had seen another cow and ask if we were there yet. When we arrived the girls were ever so...

May 21, 2009 - Topaz Camp

We spent the early hours of the morning washing the windshield of Dolly while it was still cool. It is quite a job. Possibly it will be easier once we purchase a ladder. Benji enjoyed laying outside watching our every move. He still isn't feeling 100% but he is improving. While doing the windshield, we noticed that we have lost the screw that holds the wiper blade onto the arm. We went into town, but it doesn't appear that we will be able to get the right part here in Delta. One more thing on the to do list for Salt Lake. I wanted to see...

May 20, 2009 - Happy Birthday Barrie

We pulled out of St George in the early hours of the morning as we definitly wanted to beat the heat. I guess I was not the only one thinking that way as we were not the first ones out of the park. We made a quick stop at the Super Walmart in Cedar City, Ut for some Pepto Bismol as Benji is a sick little boy. He had us up most of the night. Walking the campground at 3 AM is kind of eery...... As I drive, guess who is sleeping??? We headed north and arived at Antelope Valley RV Park. We unhooked the car and I proceeded to back into our...

Aug 20, 2008 - Day 17

Today we left Reno and headed back east on the backside of this adventure. We chose cross Nevada on Highway 50, labeled by those who love freeway traffic as the “Loneliest highway in the world”. Maybe there weren’t 60 cars per square block but that didn’t matter. It was an amazing trip. Somehow I had preconceived ideas that Nevada might really have been were the moon landings really happened. So Wrong! It seemed that every hour the whole landscape changed. There were huge valleys that went horizon to horizon, always surrounded by mountains...

Jul 6, 2007 - Desert at Sunrise

We awoke today early and were on the road at 5am. The first thing we had to do was to go through the San Rafael Desert between Green River, UT and Fremont Junction, UT. While it was desert, it was still beautiful. The sun was just shinning it's first dim of light behind the outcroppings (not sure what these huge rocks are actually called). There was a surprise around every bend and the scenery was was I think of when I think of Utah. First stop was Black Dragon Canyon where we took pictures of the sun rise. Then there was an amazing pull...
