Sep 25, 2012 - Fall colors - Alpine Loop, American Fork Canyon

This was a cloudy, drizzly day - which almost kept us from taking the drive. But the colors came through, I think, despite the day. We even saw glimpses of some sun on some of the the hillsides - but not much. Other areas in this mountain range (Wasatch) got a couple inches of snow. I found the fall color this year quite interesting - even somewhat spectacular. I can't help comparing to New England fall color. Alpine Loop is a curvy mountain road with switchbacks - but is paved and pleasant to drive on - even if a bit narrow in spots. We...

Dec 18, 2011 - Christmas (pre-) in American Fork

Our travels from our (winter) home base in Tucson took us to Utah for some time with our son, Tom, wife (Kathy) and their four children. We celebrated an early Christmas on the 18th - before heading on to Jackson, WY.

Aug 29, 2010 - Fall 2010 Cross Country Trip

Our fall cross-country trip began in American Fork, UT as we said, "Goodbye" to our son and his family. Although we were sad to leave loved ones behind (including our daughter and her family in Jackson Hole, WY) we were anxious and excited to head out on this long-awaited trip to reconnect with our friends and family "back east." Our journey took us up through Canada, with stops in New England before heading down the coast (with many adventures along the way) then across the Gulf Coast before heading back to Tucson for the winter.
