May 23, 2013 - May 23, 2013 – Aubrey, Texas to Lake Murray State Park, Oklahoma
May 23, 2013 – Aubrey, Texas to Lake Murray State Park, Oklahoma Well, so much for my plans to get on the road early! Last night about midnight, I woke up to a beeping sound. I thought at first that it was one of my water sensors, but all was well in the bathroom and with the kitchen sink. It was the refrigerator going off. It said that it had no current. Since the microwave was working, which is always the 1st thing to go off if the current is out, I couldn’t believe that there was no current. So, I reset the refrigerator and went back to...

May 23, 2013 - Big Texan Steak Ranch
We had another travel day, about 150 miles this time. We are in Amarillo, Texas. The last time we were here was in 2009. We stopped and had steaks at the famous Big Texas Steak Ranch then and enjoyed it so much, we stopped again today. It is such a fun place to visit and of course the steaks are awesome. If you have a huge appetite and can eat their 72 ounce steak and all the trimming, you get it free. I can’t imagine anyone eating that much, but some have done it. Our server was a young cowboy named Cody. He was all spruced up in cowboy...

May 22, 2013 - New Refrigerator Installed
This morning I was up a little earlier than usual, just in case the service tech would be ready for me the first thing. No such luck. It was after 2:00 before they started installing my new refrigerator. A big fly in the ointment was that the refrigerator could not be taken inside through my 24-inch wide entry door. They had to remove the window over my dinette so they could bring it in that way. Of course that made the job take a lot longer than it would have otherwise. The total bill came to $1870.75, of which my Extended Service Plan...

May 22, 2013 - May 22, 2013 – Aubrey and Irving, Texas
May 22, 2013 – Aubrey and Irving, Texas Today I worked on uploading pictures before it was time to go to Irving to meet Helen for lunch. Irving is a nice little town. We had lunch at the Glory House which serves a buffet lunch at noon and does catering at other times of the day. I got there a little early and walked around downtown. I saw the old Irving Library as well as the new one. There is quite a difference between the two. I stopped on the way home to get gas in the car and to do some grocery shopping at Kroger. It is great to be back...

May 22, 2013 - Amarillo
On avait décidé d'aller visiter le Palo Duro Canyon State Park. (2e plus gros canyon après le Grand). On nous dit que c'est le seul canyon accessible en auto. Nos voisins voulaient y aller mais pour leur...

May 21, 2013 - Amarillo, ...le Texas

May 21, 2013 - Palo Duro Canyon to Wichita Falls (Texas)
We awoke to a very dark sky this morning . We were headed out of Palo Duro Canyon at 8:00. Aren't you all (not ya'll) surprised at how early I've been getting up on this trip??!! We wanted to get packed up and on the road before it started raining. I had 2 messages on my cell and I just knew they were from Mom and Ingrid, and yes they were. They were both very concerned about us because of the tornadoes. I called them both back to assure then we were OK. Wichita Falls was SE of where we were and the sky looked much better in that direction...

May 21, 2013 - Crowell, Texas
We are having a wonderful time at Copper Breaks State Park. Today we decided to check out one of the tiny towns nearby. We love exploring small towns and hate the big ones. :-) You never know what you will find. Crowell was a very pleasant surprise. We were just riding around the town taking pictures when we spotted a store that just said “Home” on it. We both wondered what it was until we got close enough to see a menu outside. The restaurant is decorated in the most amazing décor. It’s like going home when you see all the antique...

The museum is located inside an old fire hall, it has artifacts and wonderful displays and information on the history of the region. Attractions include a pioneer school room, a hotel...

May 21, 2013 - May 21, 2013 – Aubrey, Texas
May 21, 2013 – Aubrey, Texas I was going to meet Helen for lunch today in Irving, but the weather put a kibosh on that. It is all the way across Dallas from here, and I didn’t want to be driving in hard rain and possibly hail or even a tornado. It began to rain about 1:30 and rained hard until about 4:30 p.m. We were under a severe thunderstorm warning all afternoon and a tornado watch until 7 p.m. Fortunately, there was no hail and no tornado. I’ve spent the day working on my posts, editing pictures and uploading both. I am caught up now...

May 21, 2013 - Things are looking up
The first thing this morning I called Camping World and talked with Service Manager, Bill, to see whether they had a replacement refrigerator in stock and whether my claim with Good Sam’s Extended Service Plan could be transferred from Crestview to Camping World. They did and it could! Bill is now my hero. They will work me into their schedule Wednesday. In order to be on hand early tomorrow morning, I drove down to Camping World this afternoon and hooked up to electricity. Then I took my ailing Surge Guard in to see whether it could be...

May 20, 2013 - May 20, 2013 – Plano, Texas
May 20, 2013 – Plano, Texas Today I watched Let’s Make a Deal before I attempted to set out to do some chores. However, before I got out the door, I got a call from a cousin, Wilma. She and her husband are planning their 60th wedding anniversary celebration, and she wanted to know if it would be possible for me to attend a party in Missouri this summer. Since her wedding was the 1st one I ever attended, I readily agreed to be there. I remember being really impressed by all her attendants. We visited for a while before I left to do my...
