Aug 22, 2014 - Wylie Opry House

I went to the Wylie Opry House in downtown Wylie. They have a free gospel singing every Friday night. The performers are local people and most of the songs are southern gospel. The show last about 2 hours plus a 30 minute intermission. They also have a country show every Saturday night. It cost $10 per person. I heard LeAnn Rimes use to sing at the Opry House when she was very young. It was an enjoyable evening.

Just Tripping Along

Aug 15, 2012 - Starting Out

(Because I started this journal after beginning our new lifestyle as Fulltime RV'ers, I am starting at the beginning of our adventure in 2012 with this journal as today's date is 9/13/2013.) After purchasing the 2004 Simba Motorcoach in 2010 with the intention of starting our travels, we delayed our journey's beginning until late August 2012. We took an interim pastorate for 1 1/2 years in Du Quoin, IL. which had postponed the beginning of our RV lifestyle. We began our adventure in Wylie TX, in late August to prepare for travel and were...

Our RV Lifestyle

Apr 24, 2012 - More Lake Life

As promised in the last blog we did leave the Piney Woods on Saturday. I was filled with trepidation due to the very ominous weather forecast for the week end. We had an uneventful drive of about 160 miles and by the time we arrived at our new location the weather was turning. The wind was really picking up, causing big waves on the lake. Our site is on a point and we are very close to the waters edge. We were able to see the waves crashing on the shore. Usually you only see that at the ocean or really large lakes! We set up as quickly as...

Dec 27, 2011 - A Day With Lee

What a great day! Every time we visit with Lee, we leave thinking about how much we enjoy her company. Lee, a family friend, is in her 80s and acts like she is younger than I am. She is in great shape and has a wonderful outlook on life - very positive. We went to Lee's house to visit and to go to lunch to celebrate the Christmas holidays with her. When we got there, we had two packages for her to open. I bought a pretty black sweater for her, but the gift I was the most excited about was a London Fog green all-weather coat. And, much to my...

Harrell's Happenings

Dec 21, 2011 - Home for the Holidays

Aggieland RV is a great place to camp and before I leave, I wanted to do wash (it is so convenient with the washers/dryers just across the street). So, I cleaned the trailer, straightened up, got ready to add two people to my space and did my wash. After working all morning, I was finally ready to head out for Lake Lavon to be in our home area of Garland. All three of us went in separate vehicles; I got to Lake Lavon first, arriving about 5:45. The host working the gate was so nice; he suggested that I go and park, get unhitched, and hooked...

Oct 20, 2011 - The Dallas Farmers' Market

Today I wanted to get some fall Indian corn to decorate a wreath for a door decoration. So, I decided a trip to the Dallas Farmers' Market with a friend was in order. I went to visit Margaret and caught up on her scrapbooking endeavors. She does a great job; I know that I should not get into scrapbooking because it will end up being a very expensive hobby! We left and drove to the Dallas Farmers' Market. I had researched prior to our trip and knew that Shed 2 has been remodeled and is supposed to have several eateries. As soon as we...

Harrell's Happenings

Oct 17, 2011 - Lake Lavon

Time to pack up and get on the road again. Since I didn't get to see Katherine yesterday, I decided not to leave until she was done with class and we could go to lunch together. I got the trailer almost ready to hitch up and left to go to Cheddar's for lunch. I gassed up before I returned to the trailer since it is so-o-o-o much easier to pull a pick-up up to the gas pump instead of the truck with the trailer. I was very empty before filling up. The pump cut off at $100.00 and wouldn't go any higher on one charge; the tanks weren't...

Harrell's Happenings

Nov 9, 2010 - Wow!!

Sunday, November 7, 2010--East Fork Campground--Wylie Texas I know that I have to restrain myself so that this blog does not become one of nothing but the antics of Peanut. I will try not to bore you too much with him. I have attached just one picture of him that I stole from the rescue website. Here are just a few of his highlights: 1. Only two days in our home and he “asked” to go outside last night to go potty. He is catching on to this housetraining thing really fast. 2. He is becoming very attached to Debbie. That is O.K. but we know...

Nov 6, 2010 - We Do It Again!!

Friday, November 5, 2010--East Fork Campground--Wylie Texas Well, we did it again!!!! On our computer home screen is an area called “The Daily Puppy”. Yesterday morning Debbie saw this little female Chihuahua mix that was as cute as a button. Debbie did research and found that the rescue group was located only about 40 miles away. She really fell in love with that dog at first sight. After being married to this woman for over 37 years, I could tell that she was really excited and wanted that dog. Well, that particular dog was already...
