Jul 18, 2008 - Woodville, Texas - Paradise RV Senior Park

We have been in the Woodville area for the last four days. The name of the park is the Paradise RV Senior Park. You have to be 50+ to stay here. There are about 30 very nice sites. It is very small but very cute. Established in 1995 the park is operated by Guy & Linda Lafoy. They built the park from scratch. The park is located in the tall pines that dominate the area. The landscape with flowers and ornamentations throughout the park is the handy work of Linda. The club house has nothing but 50’s décor along with a Juke Box full of 50’s...

Oct 2, 2003 - Woodville - Heritage Village

Today was a full day. We first visited the Heritage Village. It is a living museum of pioneer history of the mid 1800's to early 1900's. Buildings include an old-time blacksmith shop, a railroad depot, a livery stable and several log cabins. We saw demonstrations of the old ways from people who have either studied the art or lived it.

Oct 2, 2003 - Woodville - Allan Shivers Museum

After lunch at the Heritage Village restaurant, we visited the Allan Shivers Museum. The building housing the museum was built by Robert A. Cruse in 1881. In 1963 it had to be removed to make way for a motel. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Shivers bought it and had it moved to the present location. It was restored and converted into a museum for the collection and display of mementos of the Allan Shivers gubernatorial service. Adjoining the museum is a completely equipped library.
