Oct 5, 2016 - TT Lake Conroe

Drove down to Lake Conroe last Wednesday 10-5. I have not been here for at least 10 years. They have really made some nice improvements to this campground. This is the busiest TT in Texas. There are several things to do here in the area. Now if I can get the energy to do them. There are also several places to square dance in the area.

Oct 12, 2015 - Willis, Texas

October 11 Yesterday morning we left New Iberia for Willits, Texas, a distance of about 280 miles, where we are to spend one night so Elden and Cherie can visit their niece that lives nearby. We made a number of wrong turns and we did not arrive here until around 1600. The weather was clear all day and it was cool when we left the RV park but it was 99 degrees when we arrived at the Thousand Trails RV Park in Willits, Texas. The only saving grace was the humidity was very low. Today we are leaving here for San Antonio, Texas, a distance of...

2015 New York Trip

Jul 25, 2013 - Back at Lake Conroe, Tx

After a grueling 1000 plus miles in 2 days, went to poker and WON...what a welcome back to Texas friends and poker. Too bad I left a dome light on the last day and had a dead battery in the car when I got there. Casper of course to the rescue for an overnight charge. Vera and Casi handled the trip like the good travelers they are...and only a little rain to arrive safely...thank goodness.

Mar 25, 2013 - Willis, Texas

We had several long drives in order to get here as quickly as possible. We did stop in Tuscon, AZ for a few days so that we could visit with Jim and Darlene Weir. They are going to be the Wagon Masters on the trip to Alaska and we be their Tail Gunners. While there, Fantasy was having a Reunion Rally. They invited us to attend the rally on Saturday and on Sunday morning. Three couples that were on our caravan in Puerto Penasco were also attending the rally. So it was cool that we got to see them again. They passed on compliments to the...

Apr 22, 2012 - Lake Conroe TT/Park

Today on the way we found fuel for $3.84. Arrived here and were greeted by our friends Jerry and Judy. Almost like coming home. After we set up we all all went out for Mexican food and Margarita's. We parked next to a small pond only to find out there are a few big bull frogs in the pond and they can really make some noise. We also found our Texas friends Juanita and Dickie are in the park. We haven't any of them since 2010 when we were here last. The lake is about 2 feet low but higher then it has been. It was down about 5feet.Rob went to...

May 15, 2011 - 2011 Winter/Spring Trip - End of the Trip

Leaving Vicksburg we traveled to Willis, Texas for our next stop, which was to see our friends Faires and Martha. We met them while we were in Tucson and have remained friends thru the years. They are both originally from Texas and still maintain a lovely home there. Spending two days with them was a lovely way to end our adventures for this trip. They are such cordial hosts…..while visiting and having a good time we ate Pizza on their lovely deck. The weather was just cool enough that we could sit outside to enjoy the view of the garden...

Dec 19, 2010 - Lake Conroe TT

Back to Lake Conroe for a few days and then packed up the car and Vera and we drove to Colorado to breed her for the first time. Spent 3 days with my niece and then back to stay with Nancy, the owner of the male doberman, for a week. We had a great visit getting to know one another better and of course after visiting the reproductive vet and having an AI completed, they bred naturally the next 2 days. It was a long trip with lots of pluses and a few minuses...got to visit with my daughter, Brook, and niece, Michelle and had a successful...

Nov 24, 2010 - Willis, TX - TT Lake Conroe

Wednesday, November 24 - It took us only about 30 minutes to travel on Hwy 287 through Forth Worth. The stong winds were more of a bother than anything else. There must have been a little more rain in this area because the fields are greener as we travel down the road. We paid $2.99/gallon for diesel in Boyd, TX and haven't see anything under $3.15 since. It is already 78 at 11:00. We arrived at the Thousand Trails Preserve, Lake Conroe, and found a pull thru site to call home for a week. It was 85 when we arrived. I was tempted to turn on...
