May 2, 2014 - survived I20, Shreveport!

We survived I20 thru Shreveport, La. The road had upheavals and dips like a roller coaster. Danny passed a large truck going 50MPH, then hit a dip in the road. Ok so the trucker knew something we did not. Danny even called the DOT and spoke to someone, who said they have really bad soil.. and what does Fl. have solid rock? Go slow on that interstate! Miss Ellies was a good one night stop for us, just inside of the Texas border. Ate at Catfish village, known of course for its catfish. Excellent fried catfish, no salt in breading so different

Oct 15, 2009 - Miss Ellie's Campground, Ha!

We wanted to stay at Tall Pines RV Park in Shreveport La, but they claim they are full until Monday. Whoda thunk it! I asked them if there was something special going on in the area and they said no they run pretty much full all the time on the weekends. Maybe its the casino in Shreveport that makes them busier Thursday thru sunday night. There isnt any college football or pro teams here. Since 1972, I have been actively searching for my family roots. I have made a lot of progress and have been pretty successful in my research. One of my early projects was to find the Waskom family. That is my Mother's maiden name. It was not an easy search. I was to the point of thinking my Mom made up her name:-) After several research trips to Indiana and lots of library hours, I had a major break through in Jackson County, Indiana.
