Sunday, April 10, 2011. Dust has subsided but the wind continues, we get an early start and drive east on US 62/180. New Mexico is very plain in this area, desert broken by potash mines, not much else. Then it happens – you drop down a couple of hundred feet off a plateau into Seminole TX and wham! - cotton, peanuts & oil. Over the next two hours we had to have past hundreds of thousands of acres of cotton & peanut land interspersed with oil derricks and pumps. The land has taken on a gentle roll and the soil is as red as anything P.E.I....
