Aug 9, 2014 - Sugar Land (Houston), Texas

Yey, 3,000 miles on the clock and we're over halfway to our flight home from New York:-) We've had a great week, spending time with John and Sara in Sugar Land, near Houston. Some of you won't know that John is Julie's uncle (her mum's younger brother). It's been good to slow down and relax with them and also to catch up with their family - Julie's cousins. John and Sara have a lovely lakeside home here, with a pool we've made good use of and an electrically powered boat for cruising the lake. Their hospitality has been as generous as...

May 28, 2011 - A Day in Texas

Our first full day of our road trip was spent around Sugar Land, Texas. Weather was in the 90's but with a warm breeze. We stayed at the Marriott at Sugar Land Town Square. A neat little square with shops, restaurants, and entertainment. The morning started with a quick breakfast at our hotel. Then we headed off to Richmond to the George Ranch Historic Park. Wonderful to learn about the farm life in the late 1800's in Texas. The George family had several homes on their land from a modest home to a mansion that we were able to tour with a...

Sep 27, 2010 - Departure for Arizona

We spent the weekend with Lisa's family again and walking the girls to school on Monday morning. Highlights for the weekend were Minali's gymnastics competition, swimming with Lina in the backyard pool, and the surprise dinner that Lina planned. Lina had the idea that Grandma and she could make dinner without her parents knowing. She planned the entire menu, gave the grocery list to Grandma, and helped Grandma cook the meal. Everyone was surprised and it was alot of fun as she even set the table and put place names at the table for all of...

Sep 19, 2010 - Texas granddaughters

We arrived in Sugar Land on Friday afternoon shortly after the girls got out of school. Linda walked to the school to pick them up while Jim washed the multiple of bugs that were on our truck and camper. Our evening was spent with the family after dinner hearing about their summer vacation and them about our Canadian Maritimes trip. We played some card and board games with the girls, listened to the girls practice their piano and violin and went to gymnastics practice to watch them. Due to the heat and rain, we didn't take time to swim...

Jun 3, 2009 - Doctor visits and a great farewell party

After all the doctor visits, we had made plans to meet up with a few of out friends from Glenshire at AJ's new house. They have not moved into it yet, but it is their dream house on the water. It is stunning!!! We had a great time with good food and margaritas. They were so nice to let us stay there overnight so we didn't have to drive all the way back to Texas City!! I will surely miss my sweet girlfriends that I have known for 22 plus years, ever since the older boys were in Kdgn. We have been through a lot together and I can't write this...
