May 25, 2012 - Lazy R&R Cove

Maiden voyage for our new to us Sundance 5th Wheel. Didn't realy care for the rv park. It looked like it was pretty run down. Roads in very poor condition, and trees had not been trimmed for clearance in a long time. I had to stomp down 4' weeds to get to the electric and sewer hookups. But the maiden voyage went well.

Nov 30, 2011 - A Day Trip to San Antonio

Early start – I left the trailer at 8:02 to go to San Antonio. I was early enough to see deer in the morning, but instead of the “deer in the headlights” look you get at night, they were alert and on the run. The flash of their white tail is what signaled me about their presence. One did pause when I drove by, stopping right next to a barbed wire fence. Nov 29, 2011 - Boerne has Lots of Hidden Treasures

'Tis the season for....shopping. I got my day off to a slow start; I addressed graduation announcements. That's my preferred pace for starting the day. As the day gets going, so do I. After getting bills paid, some announcements addressed and a couple of notes written, I got ready to hit the road and drive into Boerne (pronounced burn-e). You can't help but be reminded of its German heritage as you drive through the streets and see the names of the streets and the names of businesses (The Brewhaus, Schleicher Street, Ebner Street). I have...

Nov 28, 2011 - Guadalupe River State Park

I had lots of things to do before I could take off for Guadalupe River State Park, so I got up and at it... First, I had some cleaning up to do - dishes from cooking yesterday, putting away clean laundry, putting away Thanksgiving decorations and preparing the trailer for the move. Then, I went to Fredericksburg - again - to get some Christmas gifts. Drove over and found most everything I had in mind. I got some oil cloth to use as a tablecloth after the holidays. Mum, the store on Main at Washington, had a nice selection and the clerk gave...

Harrell's Happenings

Mar 2, 2008 - Feb 26 - Mar 1

Feb 26 - Mar 1 The 'fridge went from attention-demanding to full-scale drama. The new diagnosis was to replace the cooling system. Then they lost the part. It didn't help when our neighbor said the guy fixing our unit is a rat and didn't satisfy him on an earlier service. JoAnn was ready to fly home. Anyway, it appears to be fixed. We toured Lyndon Johnson's home and farm. It's easy to criticize him for getting us into Vietnam but he did do a lot for education and ecology and developing national parks. The cemetery across the drive from the...
