Jul 29, 2018 - Sherman, Texas

Today we traveled across North Texas on two lane and divided highways. We wanted to have nothing to do with Dallas and we found ourselves in Quarter Horse country. Beautiful huge Quarter Horse ranches. We really enjoyed the small towns and lack of traffic. We found a back road bonanza. Stayed at a small campground that had no office, just a lady who came and took your money and said park where you like! Pretty laid back.

Good travel day with no major or minor problems. Travel about 400 miles , which is a long day in a RV. Settled into a KOA park and ordered pizza (good) from their kitchen, delivered. Enjoyed our wine, pizza and salad setting out side in a cool breeze. Everyone was ready to retire early to prepare for a second long day.p

Sep 18, 2011 - Amarillo, Tx to Sherman, TX (home)

We left Amarillo early and had a good trip home. After nearly 11,000 miles and many stops to fuel our hungry truck we made it home. As you have seen from the daily updates we had a few events along the way but we had a great trip and can't wait to get things in order and start planning our next trip. Who knows where!...

HUNDLEYS TO ALASKA

May 8, 2011 - Day 34 into the home state

First, once again HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all mothers. Phyllis called her mother this morning to wish her a Happy Mother's Day and she has heard from our children wishing her a Happy Mother's Day. Well, it's almost over. Left the Fort Smith, AR area this morning with clear skies and bright sun shine. About 1pm it started clouding up and we thought we might have some rain, but nooooo, it currently is sunny again. We have stopped in Sherman, TX for the night and will more than likely be home tomorrow evening. Phyllis snapped picture #1 as we...

Retirement Rocks!!

May 29, 2010 - Sherman, TX - May 21-29

May 21, 2010 Today was another pesky travel day but our first of two flights was not until 3pm. Given we had to check out of our hotel at 10am we had a bit of time to waste. We had both got a bit behind with our travel journals so after a quick breakfast at the hotel and clearing our room, we headed across the road to Starbucks to make use of the free internet. All did not go to plan however as I thought I’d best check on the status of our British Airways flight for next week in light of the threatened strikes. Unfortunately, our flight...

Nov 6, 2008 - Sherman, Texas

Good evening: We are safely into the campground at Sherman, Texas. Just eight miles less than yesterday but much easier traveling today. Good tailwinds and roads were much better than yesterday. On Interstate 40, the traffic is mostly over the road trucks, a few cars, and a very few motor homes. Jim Hannasch fixed a great dinner for us. It was chile, and very tasty. (Actually, we don't think Jim did it, he probably had some help from his great wife. Kinda like yesterday, when we had lasagna!!) Tomorrow we are headed for Lafayette, LA, which...

Sep 16, 2008 - Headed toward Ruckus in the Nation

September 16, 2008 On the road again. We are traveling north to Coweta Oklahoma for the Oklahoma State Championship, the Ruckus in the Nation on September 18-21. Stopped off in Sherman Texas on our first day. Saw the birthplace of Dwight Eisenhower. Not much there, and it was closed when we got there. RV has been in the shop for 5 months (it is a long story) and we are trying to re-acquaint ourselves with RV living. Neo the cat is with us and seems to be fitting right back into the program much faster than we are.

Mar 24, 2008 - Sherman, TX

March 25, 2008 We struggle with the road atlas as we pick a route around the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. I am more than a little intimidated by the reports of heavy traffic. We locate a park named the Lazy L in Sherman, TX. This seems to fit our needs. Enroute - we do make a stop at the Cabela's store outside of Ft. Worth. I also note that we are passing by the Texas Motor Speedway. I sure would have liked to see a NASCAR race there..... We arrive in Sherman in good time. The Lazy L is located right next to the highway. The noise is not a...

Nov 4, 2007 - North Texas RV in Sherman, Texas

We had originally planned to drive from Rock Creek, OK to Fort Hood, TX until we noticed that the GPS said it would be an 8.5 hour drive. We decided to find a place in between which turned out to be the Lazy L RV Park in Sherman, TX. Upon parking on our site, we discovered the leveling system would not function properly. After investigating further, we found that the housing was cracked, which had happened at the last camping location as we were leaving. We tried to put the sliders out, but the weight was too heavy without the leveling...
