Mar 1, 2013 - Another New Beginning
Today was the start of another travel season for John and I, and we were totally excited. After sitting for almost four months in one spot, we were a little rusty on the travel day routine, but the only thing I forgot to take down and put away was the wind chime in the bedroom. John always worries whether the engine is going to start after sitting idle for so long, but his fears were unfounded. The kitties found their usual hiding spots and we were off as the sun came up on a beautiful morning. It felt like spring today. The call of the...

Dec 20, 2012 - Traveling on Down the Road
We were excited this morning to once again hit the road. We came back to Seguin to spend the Christmas holiday with Zac and Autumn. And wouldn't you know it, the weather turned cold overnight and it was incredibly windy. If we had still been in our old rig, we might not have traveled today, but Acey handles so much better in the wind that John really wasn't too concerned. -- The first obstacle was to get across on the ferry. We have never seen the water so rough before but the tide was high and there were no problems. Once off the island,...

Dec 7, 2012 - Not Quite there yet
Sorry I haven't had time to update the last couple of days. We arrived at Jim & Judy's in Oklahoma and spent a great couple of days with them. They took us to a couple of casinos and some flea markets. Unfortunately none of us were very lucky, what we made in one casino we lost in the next but oh well it was fun. Sara chased the cat and picked a fight with the neighbors dog, Susy (a much bigger dog than her) so she didn't win but no one was hurt. We left Sara with the neighbor for the day and Susy got back at Sara by eating her dog food. We...

Oct 17, 2012 - Enjoying the River and the Kids
We are just two happy campers these days. We are back in one of our favorite spots on the Guadalupe River in Seguin. On top of that, I get to see, hug and visit with my son every day. -- I have enjoyed sitting outside, underneath the large trees overlooking the river. There are four ducks who call the park home; two white ones and two mallards. The large white duck seems to be the decision maker as to where to eat lunch, when to take baths, when and where to take naps. The ducks all hang together and mutter quietly to each other as they...

Mar 1, 2012 - We're Off . . . Eventually
We were both up and at 'em early, anxious to get on the road this morning. Word around the Park was that there would be a big line at the ferry, waiting to get across, and we wanted to get an early start. But, fate had a different idea. -- I laughingly told the neighbor about John's worry that the rig wouldn't start or that the jacks wouldn't go up, or that something would go wrong. We said our goodbyes once again to the early birds who were up to wish us safe travels. This year, we had a bunch of goodbyes and best wishes from people, which...

Feb 8, 2012 - Seguin Texas Home of the Worlds Largest Pecan

To read more about the city of Seguin please visit their facebook page HERE. There is additional information at the Chamber of Commerce website located HERE Our first stop was the Weinert House. Located on South Austin street, it is just a hop, skip and a jump from Interstate 10. We arrived at Seguin via the back roads and went under I 10 as we came into town. Dec 26, 2011 - A Feast
The other day, Christmas Eve in fact, John and I went to WalMart for groceries. It was not that hectic at all which really was surprising. In the meat dept, they had prime rib roasts for sale. You can never find one usually so we bought one. We had already planned on going out for Chinese on Christmas Day so we thought we would fix the roast today. I asked Zac if he liked prime rib and he said he didn't know if he ever had it before and wasn't really impressed that I might fix it for dinner today. -- My cold is better today. The sun was...

Dec 25, 2011 - Merry Christmas
John and I want to take this opportunity to wish all our family and friends a Merry Christmas and best wishes for a great new year for us all. -- We have had a nice day; sort of quiet, but perfect in it's own way. John reported his knees felt better today than they have in a long time. My Christmas cold seems to have peaked and I am hopeful that I will wake up tomorrow feeling better. It is the little things in life that make each day special. -- We made several phone calls and sent messages to family and friends and spent the morning...

Dec 23, 2011 - A Very Nice Christmas
This journal entry really has nothing to do about full time RVing or our travels. It is my chance to brag on my son. -- I have come down with a head cold since we got back to Seguin. Zac called and wanted us to go car shopping with him. I hate car shopping. He begged and pleaded and I reiterated. I really hate car shopping. In addition to hating car shopping, I didn't feel like going any place, let alone car shopping. John pipes up that he would go with Zac. I was happy. Zac was happy. John was happy. Car shopping to me is a guy thing....

Dec 21, 2011 - A Change of Scenery Again
Today was a travel day as we once again traveled north to Seguin to spend Christmas with Zac. It was an uneventful trip with the weather cooperating and the expected rain waiting until later to make an appearance. -- We said our goodbyes last night to Charles and Agnes. We joined them with Craig and Colleen for a Mexican food feast. After dinner, Charles suggested we top the night off with an ice cream treat (he knows me too well), so we headed to Dairy Queen, the only place still open at night. The excellent food was only outdone by the...

Nov 23, 2011 - A Change of Scenery
We totally caught the kids by surprise this morning and freaked them out by traveling back to Seguin for the holiday weekend. We were actually excited to be on the road again, even if it is back to a familiar spot. Plus I was excited to get to see my son again. -- We have not had the best of times at the beach this month and perhaps a break from the heat and humidity will be good for us all. John has been suffering with painful, swollen legs. After several tests and xrays, he was put on antibiotics for possible cellulitis. He has had some...

Oct 13, 2011 - Finally, A Son Fix
I had a hard time sitting still today as we traveled the last leg of our journal across Texas. My son was waiting for us as we pulled into the park in Seguin where we will spend the next 19 days. It was so wonderful to see and hug him. He looks terrific. John says that I was smiling a lot today. -- We will be staying at the River Shade RV Park here in Seguin. It is located right on the Guadalupe River and we have spot number 10, on the end, right on the water. It is underneath lots of trees. We have excellent cable and WiFi. We are very...
