Wow, it was cold this morning. We woke up to +5 C, and waited until it warmed up to +12 C before heading out. We rode the interstate for a few hours before heading down a secondary highway 90, which we both preferred over competing with semi’s and the faster pace that comes with interstate driving (although Highway 90 was indeed secondary, the speed limit was 75 mph). We couldn’t believe all of the Border Patrol trucks and quads that were patrolling this highway, and all along the Rio Grande. I guess they have some big problems in this...

Jan 17, 2008 - Headed West..............

We departed Retama Village in Mission TX today about 9am. It was cool, misty and somewhat foggy. Lovely day to depart in, but we were promised by the weather man that it would improve. As we headed West up hwy 83 towards Laredo, TX it misted a little harder,,,,and harder,,,,until it turned in to almost rain. The traffic was fairly light and the visibility was fine, so no problem, except, our nice clean rig got REAL dirty! We got to Del Rio, TX about 4pm....We both said "THATS HAPPY HOUR"! Well it was cold as all billy hell and I wasn't...
